Position Description

Primary Purpose:
The position will be part of the Midstream segment accounting team. The candidate will be involved with supporting segment management with audit coordination, financial reporting, operational accounting, technical research, contract review, SOX compliance and special projects.
Duties and responsibilities:

• Serve as central point person to handle various data requests from both external and internal auditors, including SEC audits, joint venture partner audits, TXRRC and other regulatory audits, as necessary.
• Assist with designing and implementing accounting process improvements, including monthly/quarterly control monitoring
• Perform research and analysis of complex accounting issues, drafting of accounting position papers and consulting with Corporate technical accounting as needed
• ASC 606 and ASC 842 contract review
• Maintain Midstream key reports and assist operational accounting with ad hoc reports
• Lead implementations and ongoing maintenance of new standards
• Administration of the Midstream SOX program and provide training as needed
• Assist with roll out and training of accounting policies/practices
• Assist with operational accounting and reporting for certain assets
• Assist with acquisitions/major projects integration within accounting
• Ad hoc and special projects and analysis as needed

Position Requirements

Position Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited university
• Minimum of 5-7 years accounting experience in the oil and gas industry; CPA is a plus
• Possess and maintain a working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SOX
• Fluency in Spanish is a plus
• Have strong analytical skills and be able to troubleshoot issues through to resolution
• Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Excel, Outlook, Word, Visio and SharePoint)
• Must be detail-oriented, self-motivated and work independently with minimal supervision
• Have strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize work and manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Must be a team player and work with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy and professionalism
• Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and a consistently high level of performance
• Overtime may be required at month/year-end or as needed, including holidays
• Experience and knowledge of HFM or Essbase is a plus
• Experience and knowledge of Lawson is a plus
