Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas is hiring a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor in Eagle Pass, TX. This is a full-time position.

Position: Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor Supervisor: Program Director Division: Health and Human Services Administration Department: New Hope Healing Grounds Responsibilities: Responsible for reviewing psychosocial and trauma history and assessment of chemical dependency issues to develop treatment plans for residents and/or outpatients, provides individual counseling, and assists with educational classes on topics of effects of alcohol and drugs, anger/stress management, and relapse prevention. Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following: Participates in orientation of residents/outpatients regarding program philosophy, rules, schedules, and treatment plans. Facilitates or co-facilitates educational presentations, individual counseling, family counseling, or group sessions. Maintains knowledge of new developments in the field of substance abuse and maintains current LCDC licensure. Reviews an individuals psychosocial history with DSMV diagnosis to formulate treatment plans. Conducts resident or outpatient individual counseling and documents on progress notes. Assists in the coordination of resident and outpatient program schedules. Assists in the coordination of discharge planning and recommendations for residents. Attends weekly staff and/or treatment team meetings. Promotes New Hope, Healing Grounds recovery program at community activities. Attends monthly KTTT court hearings and provides input and recommendations to the court as requested. Attends collaborative meetings with KTTT departments such as the casino, construction, court, clinic and/or Tribal Council. Maintains a professional attitude and works in an ethical manner in all aspects of the job. Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor. Knowledge, skills and abilities for the position: Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to diagnose using the DSM-V criteria to identify chemical dependency issues. Ability to be familiar with 12 step program and conduct group sessions. Ability to conduct individual or family counseling, using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Ability to do public speaking and conduct educational sessions to residents and outpatients. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with all departments of the Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas. Ability to organize and report statistical data. Ability to maintain current LCDC licensure. Ability to be self-motivated, organized and detailed oriented. Ability to be calm and verbally de-escalate potential threatening situations. Ability to multi-task and prioritize daily, weekly, or monthly tasks. Ability to use Microsoft programs and planning tools, spreadsheets, calendars, etc. Ability to be dependable and delegate responsibilities during absences. Must be sober and maintain presentable hygiene as they must act as role models for tribal members. Must have cultural awareness and sensitivity of Kickapoo traditions, religious beliefs and way of life. Must abide by the Texas Administrative Code RULE 140.423 - A licensee shall uphold the law and refrain from unprofessional and unethical conduct. Supervision exercised: This position does carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws.
