Key Activities/Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

  • Build and lead a high-performing machining team in a collaborative, team-based environment.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Provide ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance team capabilities.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.

Operational Excellence

  • Develop and maintain employee schedules to ensure optimal staffing and productivity.
  • Monitor and manage daily production metrics, including absorption reports and dispatch list execution.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and promote a clean, organized, and visual workplace.
  • Champion lean manufacturing initiatives to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance throughput.

Production & Quality Management

  • Oversee machining operations to meet customer quality and delivery expectations.
  • Manage manufacturing capacity to align with current and future demand, minimizing supply disruptions.
  • Implement and sustain quality assurance procedures focused on prevention and customer satisfaction.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in machining processes, equipment utilization, and product quality.

Technical & Strategic Oversight

  • Oversee procurement and utilization of CNC tooling and ensure proper inventory control.
  • Manage preventive maintenance and repair of all machine shop equipment.
  • Collaborate with Engineering on R& D projects, ensuring timelines and deliverables are met.
  • Partner with Supply Chain and Receiving teams to resolve inventory discrepancies and improve accuracy.
  • Stay current with advancements in machining technology and recommend strategic upgrades.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Serve as a key liaison between the machining department and senior operations leadership.
  • Communicate operational challenges and improvement opportunities to the Operations Manager.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support company-wide goals and initiatives.
  • Perform additional assignments and special projects as directed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience, required
  • MBA or Master’s degree in Industrial Management, preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years in a supervisory role within a machine shop environment, required.
  • Minimum of 15 years of hands-on CNC machining and programming experience, required
  • Proven experience in implementing lean manufacturing systems and tools, desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop positive working relationships in a team environment with all levels of the organization.
  • Possess a high degree of motivation, customer sensitivity and knowledge of field and industry.
  • Knowledge of machining processes, flow and constraint management desired.
