Description:

The Human Resources Generalist (HRG) is responsible for supporting a broad range of HR functions to ensure the effective delivery of HR services across the organization. This role serves as a key resource for teammates and managers, providing guidance on policies, procedures, and compliance. The HRG manages activities related to onboarding, teammate relations, performance management and HR reporting. The position requires strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion while fostering a positive and productive work environment. The HRG is a strategic partner and operational anchor, playing a vital role in shaping culture, supporting teammates, mitigating risks, and driving HR initiatives forward. This role reports to the Director of Human Resources and provides strong support to the Regional Vice President and General Managers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Onboarding

  • Coordinate offer letters and onboarding
  • Manage background checks, I-9 and E-Verify, federal/state required documentation, EEO compliance, and HRIS entry
    Teammate Relations & Performance
  • Serve as a liaison for teammate concerns; conduct investigations, mediate conflicts, and guide progressive discipline
  • Coordinate performance review cycles and assist managers in goal setting and development plans

Training & Development

  • Assist Teammate Development with leadership development for teammates and managers
  • Identify training needs and coordinate with Teammate Development to recommend training courses
    Compliance & Reporting
  • Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations (FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEO, etc.)
  • Keep HRIS updated and generate reports and metrics to support HR strategy

Policy Implementation & HR Operations

  • Maintain teammate policies, handbooks, forms, and oversee HR documentation procedures
  • Support initiatives in employee engagement, culture and retention
  • Partner with other HR Teams: Benefits, Payroll, Talent and Teammate Development to ensure Teammates’ needs are supported with excellence.
  • Maintain accurate and timely teammate records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Safety and Environmental Responsibilities

§ Follow SHM safety and environmental rules and complete required related training

§ Wear proper personal protective equipment as required for the task or work area

§ Report all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses immediately

Technical and Physical Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 3-4 years’ relevant experience preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to travel up to 50% (or more as needed)
  • UKG experience a plus
  • SHRM certification a plus
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift 20 pounds.
  • Any skills considered standard that a HR Generalist should possess
