Job Summary

Inogen seeks a highly motivated and experienced Senior Cost Accountant to join our finance team. This role is essential to supporting our operations and ensuring accurate and efficient cost accounting processes. As a Senior Cost Accountant, you will be critical in cost analysis and Bill of Materials (BOM) costing, as well as providing valuable insights to support decision-making across departments. You will also collaborate closely with operations to ensure accurate and reliable cost structures for our products.

Responsibilities (Specific tasks, duties, essential functions of the job)

  • Manage and oversee the cost accounting processes, including analyzing and calculating labor, materials, and overhead costs, ensuring accurate BOM costing.
  • Provide detailed cost analysis to support operations, manufacturing, and financial reporting decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain detailed cost models and reports, utilizing Excel and Power BI to analyze cost trends and perform variance analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze financial data for pricing and profitability assessments.
  • Assist in preparing monthly and quarterly cost reports, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Analyze and track manufacturing costs and inventory levels, ensuring proper accounting treatment.
  • Work closely with the FP& A team to support financial forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning.
  • Develop and implement new SOPs and training materials for cost accounting processes.
  • Continuously review and improve costing methodologies and processes to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
  • Provide support for month-end and year-end closing processes as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience in FP& A or supporting department leadership with financial decision-making.
  • Advanced understanding of costing methodologies and their application in the medical device industry.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.

Qualifications (Experience and Education)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in cost accounting or related roles, preferably in the manufacturing or medical device industry.
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, including BOM, labor, materials, and overhead costs.
  • ERP experience (SAP, Oracle, or similar) with a solid understanding of how to utilize ERP systems for cost analysis and reporting.
  • Proficiency in Excel and Power BI; experience in building detailed financial models and reports.
  • Ability to analyze complex financial data and communicate findings clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and support senior leadership.
  • Ability to take charge of processes, create training materials, and build SOPs to improve efficiency and accuracy.
