Job Summary
The Parts Repair Technician performs one or more of the job duties associated with the testing, troubleshooting and failure analysis of oxygen concentrator products.
Responsibilities (Specific tasks, duties, essential functions of the job)
Parts Repair Technician I
- Performs mechanical part repairs or replacements from test procedures and engineering specifications.
- Provides feedback on continuous improvement opportunities.
- Maintains records on work performed, analyzes data collected and reports results (metrics).
- Removes, replaces and assembles parts and/or assemblies as required.
- Performs necessary touch up and cleaning of deliverable hardware.
- Monitors consumables required to support test activities.
- Maintains inventory of tooling and equipment.
- Performs preventative maintenance on assembly and test equipment as necessary.
- Takes repair instructions from both management and non-management personnel.
- Assists in materials tracking.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Assist with any other duties as assigned.
Parts Repair Technician II
In addition to items listed for Parts Repair Technician I, a Parts Repair Technician II may also be responsible for the following:
- Diagnose and repair a minimum of one Inogen product with little to no supervision and has the ability to diagnose and repair a second type of product with little supervision.
Parts Repair Technician III
In addition to items listed for Parts Repair Technician II, a Parts Repair Technician III may also be responsible for the following:
- Diagnose and repair a minimum of two Inogen products with little to no supervision and has the ability to diagnose and repair a third Inogen product with little supervision.
- Ability to troubleshoot the most advanced failures and will assist lower level employees with diagnosing difficult failures.
- In the absence of the Lead, will act in the role.
Parts Repair Technician Lead
In addition to items listed for Parts Repair Technician III, a Parts Repair Technician Lead may also be responsible for the following:
- Organizes and directs the daily activities of the Return/Repair area.
- Manage the personnel and processes related to the return/repair of Inogen Assets and Customer Owned Equipment.
- Performs testing, troubleshooting and failure analysis of oxygen concentrator products.
- Complete month end transaction activities.
- Complete system transactions necessary to maintain accurate inventory, quality and production records.
- Train and monitor employee’s performance and their adherence to SOP's and Work Instructions.
- Management of manufacturing requirements to support Field Service Program.
- Gives input on repair employees’ performance to supervisors and managers.
- Ensures all documents on the floor are the latest revisions.
- Required to prepare and assist in inventory audits and occasional regulatory audit.
- Will assist and give input on process improvement activities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical concepts (including familiarity with compressors, product interworking flow charts, basic electricity, and interaction of machine components).
- Ability to read and understand written test procedures.
- Knowledge of ESD procedures (including proper care and handling of PC boards).
- Strong computer skills (data entry and search skills in MS Word required and Oracle preferred).
- Ability to take direction and work orders from senior employees.
- ISO 9001 experience.
- Must have strong work ethic.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
- Excellent planning, communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to effectively interface with different departments within the company.
Qualifications (Experience and Education)
Level I
Parts Repair Technician I
- Operates at a task level.
- Substantial supervision required.
- High School diploma or equivalent, required.
- 0-1 years of experience in mechanical or electrical repairs (error diagnosing, part replacement), required.
- A combination of training, education and experience that is equivalent to the qualifications listed above and that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Level II
Parts Repair Technician II
- Operates at a task + project level for select projects which are specifically assigned to them.
- Able to execute tasks and project level work independently.
- Some supervision required.
- High School diploma or equivalent, required.
- 1 year of experience in mechanical or electrical repairs (error diagnosing, part replacement), required.
- A combination of training, education and experience that is equivalent to the qualifications listed above and that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Level III
Parts Repair Technician III
- Able to execute at a task + project level independently, able to make decisions independently.
- Minimal supervision required.
- May be able to mentor/train junior staff members.
- May supervise/manage direct reports, as assigned.
- High School diploma or equivalent, required.
- Basic knowledge/proficiency Microsoft Office, required.
- 2 years of experience in mechanical or electrical repairs (error diagnosing, part replacement), required.
- A combination of training, education and experience that is equivalent to the qualifications listed above and that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Level IV
Parts Repair Technician Lead
- Able to execute at a project + strategic planning level.
- No/minimal supervision required, able to make decisions independently.
- Will be able to mentor/train junior staff members.
- Will supervise/manage direct reports, as assigned.
- High School diploma or equivalent, required.
- Associate’s in Technical Discipline, preferred.
- 3 years of experience in mechanical or electrical repairs (error diagnosing, part replacement), required.
- Basic knowledge/proficiency Microsoft Office, required.
- A combination of training, education and experience that is equivalent to the qualifications listed above and that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
