Description:

The Bartender at Hotel Ella plays an important role in shaping the guest experience by providing attentive, knowledgeable, and polished service in the bar and restaurant environment. This position is responsible for preparing and serving beverages to guests and service staff, maintaining an organized and fully stocked bar, and creating a welcoming atmosphere that reflects the style and hospitality of Hotel Ella.

The ideal candidate is personable, professional, detail-oriented, and passionate about hospitality, cocktails, wine, spirits, and guest engagement. This role requires efficiency, consistency, and the ability to provide high-level service in both relaxed and high-volume service periods.
Essential Responsibilities Guest Service
  • Greet guests promptly and provide friendly, attentive, and professional service
  • Create a welcoming bar environment that encourages guest engagement and repeat visitation
  • Take beverage and food orders accurately and efficiently when applicable
  • Make thoughtful recommendations based on guest preferences and menu knowledge
  • Anticipate guest needs and respond quickly to requests or concerns
  • Handle guest interactions with professionalism, hospitality, and a solutions-focused attitude
Beverage Preparation and Service
  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to recipe, presentation, and portion standards
  • Maintain consistency and quality in all cocktails, beer, wine, coffee, and other beverage offerings
  • Ensure all drinks are prepared in a timely manner for both bar guests and dining room service tickets
  • Follow all responsible alcohol service standards and verify identification when required
  • Monitor guest alcohol consumption and address issues responsibly and professionally
Bar Operations
  • Set up and break down the bar each shift according to established procedures
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar throughout service
  • Replenish liquor, beer, wine, mixers, garnishes, glassware, and bar tools as needed
  • Accurately process guest checks and handle cash, credit card, and POS transactions
  • Support inventory practices by tracking usage, minimizing waste, and communicating low-stock items
  • Follow all opening, closing, and side work procedures consistently
Cleanliness and Compliance
  • Keep all bar areas, equipment, tools, and storage spaces clean and sanitary
  • Follow all health, safety, sanitation, and alcohol compliance standards
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of all beverage products, garnishes, and supplies
  • Maintain cleanliness of guest-facing areas and support overall restaurant presentation standards
Teamwork and Collaboration
  • Work closely with servers, support staff, kitchen team, and leadership to ensure smooth service
  • Communicate clearly with managers and team members regarding guest needs, product availability, and service issues
  • Assist with training support, menu rollouts, and seasonal beverage updates as needed
  • Contribute to a positive team environment built on accountability, professionalism, and hospitality
Qualifications
  • Previous bartending experience required, preferably in an upscale restaurant, bar, or hotel environment
  • Strong knowledge of classic cocktails, spirits, wine, beer, and responsible alcohol service practices
  • Excellent guest service and communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and remain composed during busy service periods
  • Strong attention to detail, cleanliness, and organization
  • Basic math and cash handling skills
  • Experience using POS systems preferred
  • Must meet all legal requirements for serving alcohol
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to bend, reach, twist, and move quickly in a fast-paced environment
