Role Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and dynamic Municipal Sales Development Representative to drive growth by identifying and cultivating relationships with specifying engineers, municipalities and local government agencies. This role will focus on prospecting new opportunities, nurturing leads, and supporting the sales team in securing contracts for products and services tailored to public sector needs. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of public sector operations, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to sales development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Generation: Research and identify municipal prospects, including engineers, city governments, county agencies, and special districts.
  • Outreach: Initiate contact with potential clients via email, phone calls, social media, and events to introduce the company's solutions.
  • Qualification: Evaluate potential opportunities by understanding municipal needs, budgets, and timelines.
  • Relationship Building: Establish and maintain professional relationships with key decision-makers such as specified engineers, city managers, procurement officers, and department heads.
  • Pipeline Management: Maintain accurate records of leads, opportunities, and progress in the CRM system.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the sales and marketing teams to align strategies and share insights into client needs.
  • Market Research: Stay informed about municipal trends, funding opportunities, and regulatory changes affecting procurement.
  • Proposal Support: Assist in creating customized proposals, presentations, and RFP responses.
  • Event Participation: Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, and community meetings to showcase products and services.

Qualifications

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Marketing, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in sales, business development, or account management, preferably in the public sector.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with government procurement processes and funding cycles.
  • Proficiency with CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proven ability to meet or exceed sales targets.

Preferred:
  • Experience working with municipal clients or public sector agencies.
  • Knowledge of grant funding and capital improvement programs.
  • Existing network of municipal contacts.
