Our Team

Technical writers primarily collaborate with the operations team to develop and update our database of operating procedures and training materials. This role will also extend to other departments as we aim to create a centralized repository for our procedures, policies, and frequently used documents. Your technical writing skills will be essential in ensuring consistency across all site documentation.

What You Will Do

• Develop and integrate industry and company standards into operating procedures, training materials, and operator tools to improve performance while maintaining regulatory compliance and consistency of information within the refinery.

• Draft and revise procedures and technical training materials by obtaining necessary information from SMEs and available documents.

• Evaluate procedure format, training material, and process to ensure that performance objectives are being met and identify areas for improvement.

• Shepherd procedures and training materials through the validation and approval process.

• Collaborate, share, and gain knowledge through interactions with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Technical Writing staff, and others across FHR and KII.

• Create and integrate opportunities for innovation, encouraging experimentation and the proposal of new ideas.

• User assistance with the content management application.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• Minimum of 2 years of professional experience (including internships) in a technical writing role or in a process/equipment-related position within refining, chemical, or heavy industrial manufacturing environments

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, including working with templates and styles

• Demonstrated ability to write clear, concise, and accurate technical documentation

• Experience collaborating within cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and subject matter experts

• Demonstrated the ability to communicate technical information and solve problems using analytical thinking

What Will Put You Ahead

• 5+ years' experience working in a Refinery or Chemical plant

• Experience developing technical manuals, standard operating procedures (SOP's), or other process documentation.

• Bachelor's degree in English or Technical Writing,

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for data formatting or reference table creation

• Familiarity with SharePoint for document management or collaboration

• Experience using Microsoft Visio or similar tools for process diagramming

• Knowledge of AcceleratorKMS or similar document/content management systems

This role is not eligible for Visa sponsorship

This role is subject to the Transportation Workers Identification Credentialing (TWIC) rule and requires the successful candidate to obtain a TWIC identification badge, allowing for un-escorted access to the facility within a specific time period.
