Job Title: Senior AutoCad Designer - Transmission Line Design

Position Overview: The Senior AutoCAD Designer - Transmission Line Design is responsible for producing high-quality, accurate, and standardized design drawings in support of transmission line engineering projects. This role serves as a key technical resource bridging engineering concepts and constructible design documentation.

The ideal candidate brings deep AutoCAD expertise, a strong understanding of transmission line design, and a proactive mindset toward developing drafting standards and efficiencies. This individual will initially focus on creating and refining design drawings and standard details, with a clear growth path into mentoring, training, and leading junior designers and technicians.

This role requires collaboration with engineers, attention to detail, and the ability to translate markups and technical guidance into precise, cost-effective, and constructible deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design & Drafting

o Develop detailed AutoCAD drawings for transmission line design submittals based on engineering markups, calculations, and specifications.

o Produce a wide range of drawing types, including:

§ Structure framing drawings

§ Load and design drawings

§ Insulator details

§ Grounding details

§ Guying and anchor details

§ Foundation drawings and details

• Ensure all drawings meet company standards, client requirements, and applicable industry codes.

• Perform quality checks on all drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and constructability.

• Standards & Efficiency

o Develop, maintain, and continuously improve drafting standards, templates, and libraries.

o Create intelligently formatted drawings using x-referencing (XREFs) to ensure efficient updates across multiple design packages.

o Implement scalable drafting solutions that improve consistency and reduce rework.

• Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and increase productivity through automation or best practices.

• Collaboration

o Work closely with engineers and project teams to interpret design intent and resolve discrepancies.

o Communicate proactively regarding drawing issues, conflicts, or missing information.

o Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback into final deliverables.

• Leadership & Mentorship

o Train, mentor, and support junior designers and technicians.

o Provide guidance on drafting techniques, standards, and best practices.

o Assist in workload planning, task delegation, and team development as responsibilities grow.

• Project Support

o Support multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality.

o Assist with revisions, updates, and as-built documentation.

o Maintain organized file structures and drawing version control.

Qualifications:

Required:

• 7-10 years of professional AutoCAD design experience.

• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, including XREF management, dynamic blocks, and annotation standards.

• Strong ability to interpret engineering markups, calculations, and technical specifications.

• Demonstrated experience producing complex technical drawings with high accuracy.

• Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Preferred:

• Experience drafting for transmission line design or related utility infrastructure projects.

• Familiarity with structural, civil, or electrical design concepts related to overhead transmission systems.

• Experience developing drafting standards, templates, and libraries.

• Prior experience mentoring or training junior staff.

Pay Range: $44-54.00/hour
