Job Description: NDT Technician EXO Inc. has been protecting public infrastructure across the U.S. since 2009. Without consistent maintenance and quality assurance, critical assets face a growing risk of failure over time. EXO delivers engineering, inspection, and remediation services for lighting poles, transmission towers, and other infrastructure exposed to ongoing wear from usage, aging, and environmental conditions. This foundation supports a comprehensive inspection and asset management approach that addresses both new installations and aging structures requiring immediate attention. Recognizing that full replacement is often impractical due to cost and safety constraints, EXO developed its Ex-Tend approach to manage assets throughout their entire life cycle. Frominitialquality assurance to ongoing inspection and targeted repairs, this method is designed to extend service life and improve reliability.Supported by data-driven insights, EXO helps clients monitor asset conditions and make informed, strategic decisions. Position Overview: The NDT Technician is responsible for the inspection of materials, structures, and assets by using non-destructive testing techniques to examine structures for flaws and structural weaknesses. Doing so ensures compliance with safety standards, structural integrity, and overall quality. This role involves comprehensive assessments, documentation, and reporting of findings to maintain the reliability and safety of utility pole networks. Key Responsibilities: 1. Inspection Protocol: Execute detailed inspections of structures and utility poles based on established safety guidelines, industry standards, and company protocols. 2. Structural Assessment: Evaluate the structural integrity, examining for signs of Corrosion, cracks, flaws, and other imperfections, calibration of equipment, and interpret results with respect to applicable codes, standards, and specifications. 3. Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety regulations, identifying potential hazards and recommending necessary actions for repair or replacement. 4. Reporting: Accurately record inspection information into data collection application including taking pictures and attaching required information while outlining inspection results, highlighting critical issues, and providing recommendations for corrective measures. 5. Collaboration: Liaise with relevant stakeholders to communicate inspection outcomes and support the implementation of recommended actions. 6. Continuous Improvement: Contribute insights for the enhancement of inspection procedures, tools, or methodologies to optimize efficiency and accuracy. Qualifications and Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent; additional vocational training or experience in a related field preferred.Minimum of one year experience with NDT, utility maintenance, or a relevant field preferred.Knowledge: Proficient understanding of utility poles and materials, corrosion, cracks, flaws, and safety standards.Certifications: NDT Level 2 UT, NDT Level 2 MT and NDT Level 2 PTPreferred additional certifications: NDT Level 2 UT Shear WaveCWI Certification preferredExceptional attention to detail and observational skills.Proficiency in using inspection tools and equipment.Strong written and verbal communication skills for report generation and collaboration.Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.Capable of performing fieldwork, utilizing NDT equipment.Ability to travel a minimum of 75%. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, climb, kneel, crouch, crawl, and work in awkward positions for extended periods of time. Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, pull, and move equipment, tools, and materials weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally greater with assistance. Ability to climb ladders, structures, utility poles, towers, scaffolding, and access elevated work areas while maintaining safety protocols. Ability to work at heights and in elevated work platforms, including man lifts, bucket trucks, and aerial lifts. Ability to perform repetitive motions involving the hands, wrists, arms, and shoulders while operating specialized equipment and tools. Ability to maintain balance and work safely on uneven terrain, construction sites, industrial facilities, and outdoor environments. Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, humidity, rain, wind, and direct sunlight. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirators, gloves, fall-protection systems, and flame-resistant clothing. Ability to travel extensively and perform overnight travel as required by project demands. Ability to meet company requirements for driving and safely operating company vehicles. Ability to transport, set up, and operate NDT equipment in field environments. Ability to distinguish colors, indications, and test results necessary for interpretation of NDT inspections. Ability to conduct inspections in confined spaces, elevated structures, industrial facilities, and remote project locations while maintaining compliance with safety requirements. Mental Requirements: Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety in a high-risk field environment. Ability to make sound decisions under pressure while prioritizing safety, quality, and operational requirements. Ability to analyze technical information, interpret specifications, and identify potential defects, hazards, or non-conforming conditions. Ability to read, understand, and apply company policies, client requirements, engineering drawings, procedures, and industry standards. Ability to effectively communicate findings, concerns, recommendations, and project status to team members, supervisors, and clients. Ability to adapt to changing work environments, schedules, weather conditions, and project priorities. Ability to maintain focus and situational awareness while working around heavy equipment, traffic, energized systems, and other workplace hazards. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple assignments and deadlines. Ability to perform accurate documentation and data entry for reports, inspections, quality records, and project activities.
