ERMisseekingahighlymotivatedPrincipalTechnicalConsultant, Archaeologist to join our Cultural Resources Services team. This full-time, salaried position can be based out of a local ERM office in the Gulf region (Dallas, Austin, Houston, Baton Rouge, New Orleans, or Mobile).

As a Principal Technical Consultant, you will play a critical leadership role in advancing ERM’s cultural resources capabilities in the Gulf region. Your expertise will ensure compliance with federal, state, and municipal regulations while supporting large-scale capitalprojects.Youwillinfluencebothprojectdeliveryandbusinessgrowth, helpingERMexpanditsimpactintheculturalresourceconsultingspace.
WhatYou’llBring:
Required
GraduatedegreeinAnthropology, Archaeology, orcloselyrelatedfieldofstudy, orequivalentexperience.
6-8 years (10ormoreyears preferred)ofrelatedpaidexperience.
AbilitytoserveasPrincipalInvestigatorforARPApermits, statepermits, andsimilarregulatoryrequirementsintheGulfregion.
SecretaryoftheInterior-qualifiedarchaeologistlistedasaRegisteredProfessionalArchaeologist(RPA).
Demonstratedfieldexperienceandprincipal-leveloversightforprojectsintheGulfregion, includingsurvey, testing, and/ordatarecovery.
Experienceauthoringorreviewingagency-reviewedtechnicalreports(PhaseI, II, III; NEPAdocumentation; datarecoveryandtreatmentplans).
Experienceworkingwithregulatoryagenciesasaconsultantrepresentingclients.
Abilitytoworkcollaborativelywitharchaeologistsandmultidisciplinarytechnicalteams.
WillingnesstotraveloccasionallytofieldlocationsandclientmeetingswithintheGulfregion.
Experiencewithmappingequipmentandapplications(e.g., totalstation, GPS, ArcGISFieldMaps, Survey123).
Driver’sLicenseRequired: Thispositionrequiresavaliddriver'slicenseand/ortheabilitytooperateacompanyvehicleduetothenatureofjobduties, whichincludefrequenttraveltovariousclientlocationsacrossalargegeographicalarea.
Preferred
FamiliaritywithNEPAandregulatoryprocessesatfederal, state, andmunicipallevelsintheGulfregion.
ExperienceparticipatingdirectlyinSHPOandTribalconsultations.
Demonstratedsuccessinbusinessdevelopmentandclientrelationshipmanagementwithintheculturalresourcessector.
Key Responsibilities:
ServeasPrincipalInvestigatorforprivatelandsurveysaswellasfederalandotherpubliclands.
Providetechnical-levelqualityassurance/qualitycontrolofdeliverablespreparedbyotherqualifiedarchaeologists.
Oversee a team of archaeologists leadingdesktopstudiesandfieldinvestigations, includingreconnaissance-andpedestrian-levelsurveys, testing/excavations, andconstructionmonitoring.
Leadandmanagetheperformanceofmid-tojunior-levelarchaeologists, includinghiring, mentorship, andengagementacrossthebroaderculturalresourcesteam.
Serveasprimaryauthorortaskmanagerforculturalresourcestechnicalstudies, ensuringprojectsmeetscope, budget, schedule, andqualityexpectations.
Supportprojectsrangingfrommulti-statelineardevelopmentstolocalizedinitiatives.
ExpandERM’sculturalresourcesmarketpresencethroughstrongtechnicaldeliveryandbusinessdevelopment.
Buildandmaintainrelationshipswithclients, managingpartners, andkeystakeholderstodriverevenuegrowth.
Collaboratewithmultidisciplinaryteamsincludingenvironmentalplanners, biologists, wetlandspecialists, GISprofessionals, andengineers.
RepresentERMinengagementswithclients, subcontractors, stakeholders, andregulatoryagencies.
Identifysubcontractorneedsandmanagetheirperformanceanddeliverables.
