JOB SUMMARY

The Desktop Support Technician is a member of the Enterprise Technical Support group. They are responsible for providing desktop support, desktop repair services, remote and local desktop management, for enterprise end-user technology and peripherals. This will include core organizational functions through new system builds, preps, configurations, break and repair services, software loading, and any other general technical assistance that would be required by the Enterprise Technical Support Manager in order to support the business.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Assist with building, preparation, installation, configuration and ongoing usability of desktop, laptop and peripheral equipment and software
· Ensure desktop computers interconnect seamlessly with diverse systems including associated validation systems, file servers, e-mail servers, computer conferencing systems, application servers and administrative systems
· Troubleshoot basic network, software and printing issues as required
· Assist with set up of corporate mail on BYOD
· General Helpdesk support to all employees
· Work independently, make decisions to ensure day to day operations are functioning, prioritize workload, and respond to requests in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
· Make decisions on software/hardware installations without specific direction utilizing the approved guidelines
· Make changes to workflow process that will streamline processes and add additional efficiency
· Track all corporate IT inventory and initiate purchase requisitions to ensure adequate equipment levels are maintained
· Ensure all work is documented in corporate ticketing system
· Perform other job-related duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • A+ Certification, Technical Certification, or degree in Information Technology preferred but not required, can be used in lieu of experience.
  • 3-4 years of medium to large company experience required in a similar role
  • Experience with Windows 10+ desktop/ laptop PC's in the capacity of a helpdesk support technician or desktop support technician. Some exposure to Windows 11 would be an asset
  • Experience in creating operating system images, building systems with images and utilizing sysprep
  • Experience installing software, patches and updates to desktops, laptops or servers
  • Good working knowledge of O365 / Microsoft Office 2013-2019 including MS Access, MS Visio and MS Project
  • Experience and some understanding of active directory, organizational units, users and groups accounts and permissions, File level permissions and restores, exchange account creation, distribution lists
  • Experience with antivirus products and drive encryption at the enterprise level
  • Experience with MDM, preferably working with setup on iPhones
  • Knowledge of TCIP protocol, network cable patching, VOIP telephones and soft phone applications
  • Or, any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered


OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs
  • Ability to work split shifts in partnership with other team members as required to ensure coverage 7: 00AM - 7: 00PM Desktop Services hours
  • Ability to perform on-call activity as required to cover project work or peak season needs.
