Engineer II & III

Job Summary: Work alongside EITs, Project Engineers and Project Managers, learning how to design private sites and assist in the development of construction drawings, specifications and construction contract documents for mixed use retail, multi-family- warehouse and single-family residential development projects within and outside Municipal Utility Districts (MUDs) that include paving, grading, drainage, water distribution lines, wastewater collection lines, and other related items. Has a knowledge of CAD and ability to learn EHRA standards Can work independently to set up base drawings with utilities, following City and County standards. Performs one-line design of utilities, roadways, detention and grading for multiple projects. Demonstrate knowledge of basic design standards, including state and local regulations and criteria, and effectively apply them. Be capable of researching information and where to find the correct information. Demonstrate knowledge of the EHRA QA/QC program. Typical Duties and Responsibilities: Apply standard practices and techniques in solving problems.Conduct investigations and assist in development of new concepts to solve unique problems.Write technical reports, documents, designs and produce oral/written presentations based on the results of investigations and surveys.Perform tasks of a larger scope and lead specific tasks within the project scope.Interact in a collaborative manner with other team members, staff, and clients to accomplish organizational goals; may provide ideas to improve efficiency at group level; network within and beyond own technical peer group.Supervise the work of Engineer Is, designers and interns.Assist with engineering design functions under the direction of a Registered Professional Engineer.Understand agency design standards.Participate on a design team in the preparation of design documents and cost estimates in varying stages for minor to standard engineering designs.Lead development of in-house designs for projects of moderate scope.Assist in the oversight of the construction of such projects.Assist in preparation of project scope of work; assist in preparation of and maintaining design of construction schedules and budgetsProvide support throughout the project and provide status updates throughout project lifeServe on committees as needed and monitor the professional development of designers.Provide professional consultation to company personnel requiring engineering advice or direction.Assist with analysis and evaluation of products for company use.Provide input into the development and documentation of specific company design standards for use by all professionals working on company design projects. Knowledge, skills and abilities: Knowledge of MUDs, communication skills and leadership skills.Must be able to follow directives provided by the Project Manager, set priorities, assist in the preparation of project schedules and be willing to work on multiple projects in a team-based environment focused on the timely delivery of quality projects.Requires strong communication with team members, clients and governmental agencies.Intermediate knowledge of Agency criteria.Attention To Detail- Job requires being careful and thorough about detail in completing work tasks. Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the construction areas, which may require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection, etc. Education, certification and experience: 2+ years related experience.Bachelors Degree (or higher) in Engineering or related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Required Certifications, Registrations or Licensure: FE or PE license preferred.Valid TX Drivers License and ability to operate a motor vehicle may be requested.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Solid working knowledge of Civil 3D/AutoCAD software.
