Description:
Responsible for preparing/modifying wood doors specific to the instructions of each order. Some preparations require permanently joining metal parts using high heat application to form a permanent bond. Others require the use of power tools such as circular saws, jig saws, drills, and sanders.
Essential Functions - Utilizing measuring tools to mark and prepare the material
- Using saws, drills, and other power tools to create the necessary finished product
- Remove any rough edges created during the modification process
- Use electrical currents to create heat and bond metals
- Join beams in the construction of metal frame pieces
- Weld materials such as steel and titanium
- Use a rod and heat to join metals
- Operate welding machine that feeds wire to bond materials
- Use molten metal to join two pieces of metal
- Plan work by interpreting shop orders
- Select and set up welding equipment
- Ensure welds meat standards and specifications
- Package finished product for transport
- Interpret scope of work from documents detailing tasks to be completed
- Wear appropriate safety equipment at all times
- Assist Shop Manager as required
- Other relative duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications - High School Diploma, or an equivalent combination of education/experience
- Current and valid US driver's license preferred
- At least 1-year prior experience in a fast-paced production/manufacturing environment preferred
- Must pass pre-employment background check or drug test.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - General knowledge of warehouse manufacturing
- Must be able to work as a team and at times independently
- Must be able to follow directions
- Work in a fast-paced environment, completing multiple duties with accuracy, shifting from one to another with frequent interruptions and competing deadlines
- Exercise sound judgment, work independently and prioritize with minimal supervision
- Must have basic hand and power tools including: hammer, screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, and cordless drills
- Knowledge of proper safety practices when handling products, tools and power equipment
- Ability to read and interpret basic mathematical measurements and effectively read and use a tape measure
- Must be able to work overtime as needed
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work
- Detail-oriented
- Ability to report to work on time
