Calloway & Associates, Inc. is hiring a Public Affairs Specialist in Dallas, TX. This is a full-time position.
We are seeking an experienced Public Relations Specialist (PRS) capable of performing the following duties: a) Implements the USAOs social media program with an emphasis on planning for and managing communications on social media platforms as well as developing tactically and strategically social media use for the public affairs office. This includes: Develops and guides the communication of the USAO's themes and messages using social media platforms. Manages, edits, and recommends approval of daily content and interactions on social media platforms, which may include Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Flickr, Instagram, Google+, Yammer, LinkedIn, Vimeo, X, etc. Oversee the execution of social media strategies and plans. Provides direction and guidance to USAO staff by guiding and directing social media inclusion in public affairs plans. Research new areas of web communication and advise senior management on social media platforms, trends, tactics and techniques.Perform as the USAO's subject matter expert on social media issues, developments, and policies. Maintains relationships with new and traditional media outlets. Provides strategic planning recommendations and social media content concerning exercises and real-world operations, crisis communication incidents, and other major internal and external audience communication efforts. These include but are not limited to managing the USAO's social media involvement in conferences, outreach events, and various local events. Receives, analyzes intent of, and develops social media response to query and public affairs guidance for USAOs staff concerning social media issues.Provides guidance to leadership on the planning and execution of information campaigns using social media. Writes and presents decision/information papers and briefings to the senior leadership as directed. Works with various other federal, state or local agencies to coordinate social media best practices and policies. Represents USAOs social media presence at conferences, meetings and seminars, to demonstrate the USAO's position in the social media space. Participates in the preparation and instruction of staff to help them communicate more effectively in social media forms. Provides social media training at the request of senior leadership. b) Plans, directs, and executes statewide and national campaigns to convey complex and controversial information concerning the USAO's initiatives, programs, and operations. Information and outreach programs represent the interests of various law enforcement agencies involved, as well as providing fair representation to special interest groups. In this regard: Plans, initiates, and implements comprehensive public affairs campaigns to enhance the understanding of USAO's initiatives among the public and specialized groups and organizations.Responds to information requests from local and national news media, specialized groups, and the public on significant program initiatives in written and oral form, which often require detailed explanations of negative comments made on the program's activities or performance in a particular situation.Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with members of the local andnational news media and specialized groups interested in USAOs programs. Organizes and coordinates news media interviews and oversees arrangements with media representatives. Develops and provides supporting materials as required.Evaluates the effectiveness and efficiency of the national information program, media relations, and community relations programs in achieving greater understanding of the USAO's mission, goals and objectives.Arranges and conducts special events, workshops, seminars and other meetings with various organizations in stimulating participation in program activities, identifying their concerns, and motivating these groups to conduct similar programs for their memberships. c) Provides assistance and advisory services to public affairs specialists at the Departmental and office levels. Initiates and maintains direct contact with the public, specialized groups, and community and governmental entities directly affected by the USAO 's programs. These duties include: Advises and assists personnel in other federal agencies and Departmental components on carrying out community relations activities regarding the USAO's programs. Furnishes policy guidance, develops directives for policy procedures, and evaluates program effectiveness. Advises the United States Attorney of attitudes of various special interest groups and law enforcement agencies of the program's effectiveness. Evaluates programs in the field and recommends modifications when appropriate.Prepares magazine and newspaper articles for publication in national publications. Develop articles for Departmental distribution and other media. Organizes press conferences and other media events to enhance the programs law enforcement message.
