Position Overview:

The Buyer/Planner is a highly visible position of planning and scheduling work orders and sales orders, procurement, and open order management processes to deliver essential production planning and procurement services to internal customers and ultimately the end user. The scope of this position encompasses supporting the day-to-day procurement, production planning, and scheduling needs of Valve Automation Center. Additionally, the buyer/planner will foster strong relationships with a variety of vendors who supply complimentary products for complex automation packages, having multiple sources for a range of equipment.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Schedule and execute sales orders and work orders to meet required customer delivery needs
  • Strong vendor relationships and management. Develop sourcing matrices.
  • Manage procurement and replenishment of assigned products
  • Maintain timely and accurate order acknowledgments and supplier promise dates
  • Review and take action daily on critical need items for urgent customer sales orders.
  • Expedite/follow up on open purchase orders to maximize stock availability and ensure timely delivery of product
  • Expedite/follow up on open production orders across value streams to maximize stock availability and ensure timely delivery of product
  • Support sales, production, and other key internal customers on purchasing, production, and inventory needs through rapid & constructive email/SMS/phone conversations.
  • Proactively be engaged with suppliers to negotiate and resolve performance issues that may impact costs, customer service, or quality
  • Ensure compliance with standard policies, procedures, internal audit, and quality management processes
  • Meet and exceed defined performance goals
  • Swiftly adjust/adapt/pivot planning/purchasing orders due to changing order deliveries or requirements or unexpected vendor delays, working closely with the VAC Team

Required Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering/Distribution, Supply Chain, Business Management, Engineering or other related field.
  • 5yr experience in a planning, purchasing, or production control position.
  • 3yr experience in manufacturing environment, involving interaction with Assembly team members.
  • Mastery of ERP systems and how to drive supply through MRP to accurately meet demand.
  • Vendor management, issuing purchase orders, finding solutions for non-conforming material, and assisting with accounting’s invoice verification.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and tolerances.
