Overview

This position is located in Crystal Beach, TX 77650. The Dispatcher is responsible for the oversight of after hour maintenance of Kirby vessels to ensure equipment will meet reliability, performance, safety standards, and customer requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee repairs of Kirby vessels ensuring compliance with company, customer, local, state, and federal policies, and regulations.
  • Communicate with multiple Kirby departments, vessel crews, dock personnel, and vendors managing incoming phone calls.
  • Assign and coordinate on call personnel, vendors, and shipyards to maintain operation of Kirby equipment.
  • Prioritize and schedule unplanned maintenance response based on established priority system.
  • Communicate operational requirements or general concerns to Vessel Operations or other departments as required.
  • Communicate vessel related information to docks, inspection companies, tankerman, and other parties as needed.
  • Read and follow all pertinent maintenance procedures.
  • Ensure all shipyard work meets KIM standards and is in accordance with previously submitted budget.
  • Input and manage work orders in the Computer Based Maintenance Systems.
  • Assure written turnover at shift change is accurate and complete.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both Internal as well as External Customers.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to make decisions and exercise good judgment.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to operate standard office equipment. (Word, Excel, Access, and Oasis)

Education/ Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED; some college work preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the marine industry.

Working Conditions:

Work a 12-hour shift (7 days on, 7 days off) with alternating dispatchers. Occasionally work additional shifts to maintain continuous dispatch coverage. Must be able to work in an open and busy work environment and handle a fluctuating workload and intermittent high stress.
