How you will contribute As we continue to expand, A& M Energy is seeking Directors with experience in the Chemicals industry, specifically the petrochemical and/or specialty chemicals space. These Directors will support our private equity and corporate clients, leading and delivering high-stakes projects across the following types of projects:
- Transaction Support: Commercial/Operational due diligence; Carve-Out Assessment; Interim Management; Post-Merger Integration; IT
- Commercial Excellence: Revenue Enhancement; Margin Management; Complexity Reduction; Salesforce Effectiveness
- Operational Improvement: Rapid Results; Operational & Process Improvement; Cost Optimization; Procurement & Sourcing; OEE Optimization
- Capital Efficiency: Asset Reliability & Productivity; Supply Chain & Inventory Management; Asset Care Planning
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead or contribute to projects in the areas listed above for private equity and corporate clients in the chemicals sectors
- Lead multiple workstreams or entire smaller scale engagements
- Set the direction for planning and scoping of work on engagements
- Determine client needs by supplementing the standard assessment techniques and tools with innovative approaches
- Evaluate and validate analysis and develop recommendations for the client in the context of the overall engagement
- Implement and oversee the quality of deliverables
- Effectively manage the team and day-to-day relationships to ensure exceptional performance
- Participate in the development and presentation of proposals for business development activities
- Structure complex problems, develop strategic frameworks, and synthesize insights into clear, actionable recommendations
- Build client-ready slides and presentations that tell a compelling and data-backed story
- Interface directly with client stakeholders, including investment professionals and corporate executives
- Collaborate closely with internal teams, sector experts, and clients to deliver high-quality work under tight timelines
- Support business development efforts through proposal development, thought leadership, and client relationship building
Required Skillset:
- Proven experience in management consulting with a focus on transaction support, commercial excellence, operational excellence, and/or capital efficiencies
- Familiarity or knowledge across the Chemicals value chain, specifically in petrochemicals and/or segments of specialty chemicals
- Ability to structure ambiguous problems and develop clear, insightful frameworks
- Exceptional communication skills-both written and verbal-with strong slide writing and storytelling capabilities
- Deep knowledge of or experience working in the chemicals industry
- Strong analytical capabilities with proficiency in Excel; familiarity with PowerPoint, research databases, and modeling
- MBA is a plus
- Exposure to private equity clients and corporate chemicals clients is a strong advantage
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting
- Comfortable with travel (domestic and international)
Qualifications- 7-10+ years of relevant experience in management consulting, private equity, or corporate strategy roles with a focus on transaction support, commercial excellence, operational excellence, and/or capital efficiencies
- Demonstrated experience in the chemicals industry, either through consulting engagements or in-house roles
- Proven ability to structure ambiguous problems, develop market frameworks, and synthesize findings into actionable insights
- Strong slide-writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to build client-ready deliverables and communicate complex ideas clearly
- High proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; experience with market research databases and financial modeling is a plus
- Client-facing experience required; ability to present to and engage with senior stakeholders effectively
- Proven track record of managing client engagements, owning deliverables, leading client communication, and contributing to business development (e.g., proposals, relationship building)
- Exposure to private equity clients or M& A transaction environments strongly preferred
- MBA preferred but not required
- Entrepreneurial mindset, attention to detail, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting

Provided the eligibility requirements are met, employees will also receive a discretionary contribution to their 401(k) from Alvarez & Marsal. Additionally, employees are eligible for paid time off including vacation, personal days, seventy-two (72) hours of sick time (prorated for part time employees), ten federal holidays, one floating holiday, and parental leave. The salary range is $150, 000-$210, 000 annually, dependent on several variables including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography.
