Description:

Position Summary: The Production Planning & Scheduling Specialist is responsible for developing and managing production schedules across multiple manufacturing sites to ensure optimal efficiency, on-time delivery, and inventory accuracy. This role serves as the central coordination point between production, inventory control, and logistics, with a strong emphasis on production scheduling and SAP-based execution.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Production Scheduling (Primary Focus)
  • Create, maintain, and optimize daily and weekly production schedules for air vent manufacturing operations in Dallas.
  • Coordinate production planning for sister plants in Orrick, Missouri and Portland, Oregon to ensure alignment with demand and capacity.
  • Continuously adjust schedules to accommodate changes in demand, labor availability, material constraints, and equipment capacity.

Production Control
  • Generate and release production orders in SAP.
  • Ensure all production orders are properly executed, confirmed, and closed by production leads.
  • Monitor shop floor progress and resolve discrepancies to maintain schedule adherence.
  • Drive accountability for accurate production reporting and completion.
  • Close out all work orders in a timely manner after checking for accuracy

Inventory Control
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels for finished goods, work-in-process (WIP), and raw materials.
  • Reconcile inventory discrepancies and ensure system accuracy in SAP.
  • Partner with warehouse and production teams to optimize inventory turns and minimize excess/shortages.

Logistics & STO Coordination
  • Plan and coordinate Stock Transfer Orders (STOs) between plants.
  • Schedule inter-plant truckloads of finished goods and component parts.
  • Ensure alignment between production schedules and transportation availability.

Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Collaborate with operations, procurement, customer service, and logistics teams to ensure customer demand is met.
  • Identify and resolve bottlenecks or constraints impacting production flow.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to planning, scheduling, and inventory management.


Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, operations management, business, or related field and 3-7 years in experience in production scheduling, production control, or supply chain planning in a manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bilingual in Spanish strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing multi-site or interplant scheduling is highly desirable.

Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing and walking on the manufacturing floor.

Work Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to manufacturing equipment and machinery, forklifts, and pallets. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme hot and cold weather conditions. Personal protective equipment is required in all areas of the production plant.
