The Extrusion Operator is focused on operating and associated handling of the equipment and reports to the Extrusion Manager.

Job responsibilities include:

• Check extrusions for surface defects, square and flatness
• Inspects metal after stretch to verify that it is flat and square.
• Checks the dimensions of the metal compared to dimensions on die prints and correctly record dimensions of extrusions.
• Responsible for controlling flatness and angularity of metal.
• Collect and check dimensions and paint a sample of fifth billet from each die and from at least every fifth drag for duration of the run.
• Communicate any problems to the press operator, lead person, or supervisor once the problems are discovered.
• Assist the press operator by checking the dimensions and the surface quality of the metal after it comes out of the press.
• Communicate information to the saw operator as to needed concerning end scrap or scrap pieces.
• Resolve cycle problems and return to automatic operation as soon as possible

What We Are Looking For

• Must be able to follow written instructions and tracking information
• Must have the ability to learn to recognize poor metal quality as related to finish or metal itself
• Must be able to make simple mathematical calculations
• Must be able to use a tape measure, calipers, micrometers, and protractors
