Your Job

Georgia-Pacific (GP) is looking for a Research Analyst to join our Technology and Innovation Center (T& IC) in Memphis, TN. As part of T& IC, you will support GP Cellulose's R& D efforts, focusing on product development, innovative applications, and advanced analytical chemistry tools. As a Research Analyst, you will support R& D projects, plan and execute experiments, perform data analysis, and maintain and regulate equipment. Our Team

At T& IC, we support GP Cellulose's research and development efforts towards product development, expanding new applications, and provide knowledge through advanced analytical chemistry tools and methodologies.

What You Will Do

  • Collaborate across two teams, Production Applications and Product Development to gain process and customer knowledge.
  • Interpret data sets and generate technical reports and lab test summaries.
  • Exercise meticulous attention to detail, employing strong problem-solving and decision-making skills to ensure high-quality outcomes.
  • Take ownership of projects, including planning, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines.
  • Learn to independently troubleshoot and resolve issues, demonstrating self-reliance and resourcefulness, with minimal supervision.
  • Learn and apply pertinent cellulose chemistry principles.
  • Work flexible hours to include overtime as business needs require.
  • Safely and occasionally lift objects weighing up to 30lbs as required for specific tasks or projects.
  • Work in indoor and outdoor manufacturing environments to support mill trials.


Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, analytical chemistry, organic chemistry, or a related field.
  • Willing to travel up to 25% of the time.
  • Experience utilizing wet-chemistry skills in a laboratory setting.


What Will Put You Ahead

  • Master's degree in organic chemistry.
  • Two or more years of experience working in R& D setting.
  • Experience in Pulp and Paper Chemistry or a related field.
  • Experience in statistical analysis
