What you will do

The Principal Scientist, Skin Health & Beauty will have End to End responsibility for product development across various Skin Health categories including facial moisturizers and treatments, makeup, SPF, and acne/cleansing as well as support for post launch projects. Strong communication skills together with the ability to manage complexity are must have prerequisites. The candidate will provide strategic and operational skills in the execution of regional and global projects, including analyzing the new consumer insight to build a strategic innovation pipeline. Responsibilities will also include mentorship and development of more junior scientists.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead innovative end to end skin health & beauty development projects

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure product quality and performance standards are met

• Stay current on industry trends and technologies to drive product innovation

• Present findings and recommendations to senior management and key stakeholders

• Lead the identification and assessment of external innovation partners to develop innovative products.

• Drive continuous improvement in the development of new materials, processes, and products to ensure quality and efficiency

• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to define, design, and implement new makeup features

• Designs and executes projects and analysis with demonstrated rigor and deep organizational knowledge.

• Drives complex analysis to address problems and challenges.

• Operates independent of technical direction.

• Independently hypothesizes designs and executes projects or analysis with hands-on involvement.

• Proactively investigates and develops improvements to existing processes or develops new and improved basic processes

• Creates and promotes projects or programs that create value for the group.

• May lead project teams and provide technical mentorship to junior level scientists. May have oversight for Contractors and manage the work of co-ops and interns.

• Formulates products by incorporating consumer insight from appropriate channels

• Draft and execute peer reviewed manuscripts, tech reports and patent filing

• Monitors proper recording of information and reviews information to draw conclusions

Mastery of regulatory compliance, documentation. Assist with contributing and creating standard processes.

What we are looking for

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field

• Minimum years of proven experience in skin health product development

• Experience with cosmetic/topical formulations is required.

• Demonstrated track record of successfully launching innovative skin health & beauty products

• Strong knowledge of cosmetic regulations and safety standards

• Excellent communication and presentation abilities

Desired Qualifications

• 6-8 years of hands-on experience in cosmetic formulation and product development

• Experience in developing, formulating and launching beauty and personal care products in the market

• Proficiency in utilizing third-party and/or contract manufacturers to develop beauty and personal care products

• Ability to manage routine processes and complexity, risk-taking and decision making are critical components of the role in providing guidance and solutions to technical problems
