As part of the MedTech Butterfly transformation, the Release Train Engineer (RTE) will play an important role in driving business agility and enabling the Sales workstream to deliver value at scale. The RTE acts as a servant leader and coach for the Agile Release Train (ART), facilitating the delivery of high-impact capabilities across global teams while ensuring alignment with enterprise goals, product strategy, and Lean-Agile principles.

This role requires deep knowledge of Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), demonstrable experience orchestrating multi-functional collaboration, and the ability to navigate complex dependencies and stakeholder dynamics in a regulated, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as Release Train Engineer (RTE) to lead and support the Sales ART in alignment with Butterfly CxM goals
  • Lead and optimize flow of value through the Agile Release Train using tools like Kanban and SAFe metrics
  • Establish and maintain the ART calendar, including Iterations and Program Increments (PIs)
  • Drive PI Planning readiness, enabling synthesis of Vision, Roadmap, and Backlogs through continuous exploration practices
  • Facilitate PI Planning events and associated Pre- and Post-PI planning meetings
  • Supervise the execution of Features and Capabilities across teams and identify risks early
  • Lead ART syncs and System Demos to maintain alignment and visibility across the program
  • Support decision-making through team-level and program-level estimation activities
  • Coach teams, leaders, and Scrum Masters on Lean-Agile best practices
  • Identify, escalate, and remove impediments while helping manage program-level risks and dependencies
  • Advise on resourcing needs and bottleneck mitigation strategies
  • Drive collaboration between teams and partner functions (e.g., Data, Architecture, Engineering)
  • Partner with Product Management, Product Owners, and business partners to ensure strategy-execution alignment
  • Improve DevOps and Release on Demand maturity to enhance value stream performance
  • Collaborate with the Butterfly TMO (Transformation Management Office) to ensure operational excellence and reporting
  • Ensure compliance with Lean Budgeting practices and MedTech financial guardrails
  • Facilitate Inspect & Adapt workshops to drive continuous improvement and elevate team agility
  • Develop Communities of Practice and help embed engineering excellence and Built-In Quality standards

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrable experience running Scaled Agile (SAFe) programs in large, matrixed environments
  • Solid understanding of Agile delivery models, with the ability to coach teams and executives in Lean-Agile principles
  • Excellent facilitation and interpersonal skills, especially across global and multi-functional stakeholder groups
  • Experience with Agile tools such as Jira, Rally, or similar enterprise agile management systems
  • Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD, and Lean Portfolio Management is preferred
  • Experience working within regulated industries (e.g., MedTech, Pharma, Life Sciences) is a plus
  • SAFe Agilist certification (SA) is required; RTE certification is strongly preferred
