Position Overview

Shockwave Medical is seeking an accomplished and visionary Sales Director for the DACH region (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland). In this senior leadership role, you will be responsible for driving strategic growth and execution across the region, with a focus on expanding patient access to Shockwave IVL in both the cardiovascular and peripheral spaces. We are looking for a results-driven leader with a proven track record of success and a deep understanding of the DACH healthcare landscape. You will need to lead, inspire and empower cross-functional teams to deliver outstanding outcomes.

You will engage closely with key stakeholders including local physician communities, the European leadership team, International Marketing, R& D and other strategic partners to assess market needs, develop high-impact strategies and execute with precision. Your leadership will be crucial in positioning Shockwave as the market leader in IVL technology.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Team Development

  • Lead and inspire a high-performing team of Regional Sales Managers, Marketing Managers, and Sales Representatives to exceed revenue targets and achieve business objectives.

  • Shape and execute an overarching strategy to drive growth, leveraging deep market insights and a focus on operational excellence.

  • Cultivate a high-performance culture emphasizing accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the team.

  • Provide executive-level guidance, coaching, and mentorship to enhance individual and team performance, ensuring alignment with corporate goals.

  • Facilitate strategic sales leadership meetings and quarterly business reviews, ensuring all teams are aligned with business priorities and KPIs.

Market Leadership and Expansion

  • Establish and nurture relationships with key stakeholders across the DACH region, including high-level clients, healthcare providers, and regulatory bodies.

  • Collaborate with the reimbursement function to optimize product access and ensure sustainability across markets.

  • Drive data-driven decisions by analyzing market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs, informing strategic planning and product positioning.

  • Represent Shockwave at major industry events, conferences, and networking forums to build brand awareness and influence the competitive landscape.

Financial and Operational Excellence

  • Oversee full P& L responsibility for the DACH region, ensuring the delivery of financial targets and revenue growth.

  • Lead accurate forecasting processes, including annual, quarterly, and monthly sales revenue projections, ensuring alignment with business objectives.

  • Monitor and manage the sales pipeline to ensure timely execution of sales strategies and achievement of KPIs.

Cross-Functional Collaboration and Influence

  • Serve as the voice of the DACH region within the European Leadership Team, driving alignment on regional strategies and ensuring that regional needs are prioritized at the global level.

  • Partner closely with Marketing to design and implement go-to-market strategies, ensuring they are executed effectively to drive brand presence and market penetration.

  • Lead the development and refinement of innovative sales strategies, identifying best practices and scaling successful tactics across the region.

  • Provide actionable feedback and market insights to influence the development of new products, services, and marketing initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor' s degree (BA/BS) in a related field; advanced degree or MBA is a plus.

  • Extensive experience in a leadership role within the DACH region, with a strong background in sales, market expansion, and strategic development.

  • Proven experience in the cardiovascular or peripheral markets, with a solid understanding of market dynamics and healthcare regulations.

  • Demonstrated success in introducing innovative and disruptive products to market, particularly in highly competitive environments.

  • Outstanding leadership capabilities with a focus on collaboration, relationship-building, and influencing across all organizational levels.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with fluency in English and German highly preferred.

  • Willingness and ability to travel 50% or more as needed.
