SPARTANBURG METHODIST COLLEGE is hiring a Assistant Professor of Mathematics in Spartanburg, SC. This is a full-time position.
Assistant Professor of Mathematics Spartanburg Methodist College Full-Time, Tenure-Track Begins August 2027 Spartanburg Methodist College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty appointment as an Assistant Professor of Mathematics beginning in August 2027. This is an on-campus position with a primary emphasis on undergraduate teaching. We seek an enthusiastic and student-centered mathematician who is passionate about teaching, committed to helping students develop confidence and competence in mathematics, and excited to contribute to a small, collaborative academic community. Teaching Responsibilities The successful candidate will teach four undergraduate courses per semester. Teaching responsibilities will primarily support SMC's general education mathematics curriculum and may include: Principles of AlgebraIntroductory StatisticsExplorations in MathematicsPrecalculusCalculus for Business and the Social SciencesCalculus I and II Instruction will primarily be face-to-face on SMC's Spartanburg campus. About Our Students Spartanburg Methodist College has a long history of providing excellent undergraduate education to students from a wide range of backgrounds. SMC serves many first-generation college students as well as students with varied levels of academic preparation and experience with mathematics. We believe that effective mathematics instruction combines academic rigor with meaningful support. We are particularly interested in candidates who can engage students who may enter college with different levels of mathematical confidence and preparation while maintaining high expectations for student learning. Responsibilities In addition to teaching four undergraduate courses per semester, the successful candidate will: Participate in curriculum development and assessment of student learning.Contribute to the continued development of the mathematics curriculum.Participate in departmental and college committees.Engage in professional development and appropriate scholarly activity.Participate in campus events and contribute to the broader academic community at SMC.
