City of Goose Creek is hiring a Facilities Maintenance Supervisor in Goose Creek, SC. This is a full-time position.
Make a Difference in Your Community The City of Goose Creek is seeking a hands-on, dependable leader to supervise custodial and maintenance staff and help maintain clean, safe, functional, and welcoming City facilities and grounds. This position plays an important role in supporting the Citys recreation programs, special events, rentals, and daily operations throughout the community. JOB SUMMARY: This position leads and supports custodial and maintenance staff while performing a variety of building maintenance, custodial, landscaping, grounds, equipment, and facility operations duties. The position is responsible for coordinating staff and daily work activities supporting the Goose Creek Community Center, Senior Center, Daning Amphitheater, Creek Collective, and The Assembly, as well as assisting with programs, rentals, special events, and other City activities throughout the community. These facilities and activities operate seven days a week and may require services and support at varying times, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and other non-traditional hours. The successful candidate must be able to effectively manage staffing and work schedules, adjust priorities based on operational needs, and respond to facility issues as they arise. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Supervise, coordinate, and support custodial and maintenance staff and daily work activities.Assign, schedule, and monitor work to ensure appropriate staffing, facility coverage, and completion of assigned duties.Organize projects, manage work crews, and motivate employees to maintain high standards of cleanliness, safety, appearance, and customer service.Train, coach, and provide direction to staff regarding proper procedures, equipment use, safety practices, and job responsibilities.Inspect completed work and facilities to ensure established standards are maintained and address deficiencies as needed.Coordinate custodial and maintenance support for programs, rentals, special events, and other City activities occurring at various times throughout the week.Assist with event and program setup, breakdown, cleaning, facility resets, equipment movement, and other operational needs.Provide operational support for the Goose Creek Community Center, Senior Center, Daning Amphitheater, Creek Collective, The Assembly, and other City facilities and grounds as assigned.Manage staff schedules to accommodate facilities and activities that operate seven days a week, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and other non-traditional hours as needed.Effectively manage personal work schedules to meet operational needs and maintain appropriate facility and staff coverage.Respond to urgent facility, maintenance, custodial, or operational issues as needed, including after-hours and on-call situations.Perform routine and preventative building maintenance, including basic plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, and exhaust fan work.Repair and maintain plumbing fixtures and other building components.Inspect fire extinguishers and help ensure they remain in proper working condition.Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and the SDS book.Pick up and deliver building supplies and other materials as needed.Handle custodial duties, including cleaning, floor care, and operating floor equipment.Perform landscaping, irrigation, litter removal, and grounds maintenance.Maintain facility equipment, including fitness, sound, television, and PA systems.Monitor supplies, equipment, and materials and communicate needs to appropriate personnel.Provide backup support to coworkers and contribute to a team-oriented work environment.Assist coworkers and perform other duties as assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or equivalent required.Associates or Bachelors degree in Facilities Management, Recreation, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.Four years experience performing maintenance and custodial work.One year of experience in supervision.Any combination of education and experience totaling two years may be considered.CPR and First Aid certification required within 90 days of hire.Valid South Carolina Drivers License required within 90 days of hire.Ability to work varying schedules, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and other non-traditional hours as required by facility and program operations.Ability to respond to facility or operational issues outside of normal working hours as needed. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The work requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and up to 30 pounds of force to move objects and the following physical abilities: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and walking. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work is typically performed indoors with some outside work. Employee may be exposed to dust, dirt, grease, contagious or infectious diseases, irritating chemicals, and cold or inclement weather. The position may require work during evenings, weekends, holidays, and other non-traditional hours based on facility operations, programs, special events, staffing needs, and emergency or urgent facility issues.
