Schneider Electric is hiring a Product Operation Support Engineer in Riga, RIX. This is a full-time position.

Product Operations Support Engineer

About the Role

As a Product Operations Support Engineer, you will play a key role in bringing the voice of the customer into our engineering and product teams. You will lead the investigation of protection relay product issues, performing in-depth root cause analysis and delivering technical assessments using the 8D problem-solving methodology.

This role is primarily focused on hardware-related failures, with close collaboration with R& D teams on firmware-related topics. You will be based in Riga, reporting to the Europe POST Manager (Product Operation Support Team).

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead investigations of customer-reported product failures and perform root cause analysis down to component level
  • Deliver Technical Expert Assessment (TEX) reports using the 8D methodology
  • Identify recurring failure patterns and potential hardware design weaknesses
  • Collaborate with global hardware design, L3 technical support, and quality teams to implement corrective and preventive actions
  • Provide technical support to production and repair teams, particularly in case of hardware failure trends
  • Support R& D with:
    • Component obsolescence management (identifying alternatives and validating performance)
    • Design verification, validation, and EMC testing
  • Build deep expertise in protection relay products, including hardware design, features, and testing methodologies
  • Deliver high-level technical support across the business to enhance customer satisfaction, product quality, and reliability


What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Electrical or Electronics Engineering
  • Strong knowledge of hardware development lifecycle, including design for manufacturing and testing
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in product hardware development
    • Preferably in protection relays, RTUs, or modular systems
  • Knowledge of:
    • Protection & control systems
    • Communication protocols
    • EMC design and testing
  • Experience with:
    • 8D problem-solving methodology
    • Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
  • Ability to perform board-level failure analysis
  • Strong documentation and communication skills
  • Team-oriented mindset with experience in multi-site/global collaboration
