Job Summary:
The Buyer/Planner is an essential member of the SCP materials management team contributing to operational success. The Buyer/Planner is responsible for the effective and efficient procurement of precision/intricate machined parts, cable and outside processing operations as well as driving on-time delivery. The Buyer/Planner reports to the Materials Specialist and works closely with the SCP Busines Director, Engineering, Quality, Sales and Accounting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Planner must understand manufacturing capacity and allocate as required to meet build plan commitments.
- Expedites and reschedules open purchase orders to suit production-planning requirement.
- Create and release manufacturing orders based on bill-of-materials and configuration.
- Track material shortages for manufacturing orders, kits, sub-assemblies based on bill-of-material or drawings/configuration.
- Communicate to team and management critical part shortages that will jeopardize ship schedule.
- Prepares purchase requests for the purchase of components or parts based on a master production schedule, shop load, and inventory requirement
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in relevant field Preferred
- Manufacturing Scheduling/Planning, MRP system experience or an equivalent combination of work-related experience
- Strong analytical capabilities and able to organize large data sets, analyze trends and make recommendations.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment and demonstrated success deploying lean methodologies to improve production efficiency.
- Experience scheduling and/or planning in a high volume / high mix manufacturing operation is desire.
- Outstanding leadership skills and good strategic thinking.
- Effective time & prioritization management.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Successful at adapting to and managing change.
- Familiarity with ISO Quality Assurance programs.
