Develop models for generating Facilities under construction, such as utility scale solar, energy storage, or Facilities which include both technologies.

What You Will Do
  • Develop generic and user-defined models using PSLF/PSSE/PSCAD software for use during initial submissions of models for generating Facilities under construction, such as utility scale solar, energy storage, or Facilities which include both technologies
  • Develop system-level plant models for steady-state and transient analysis for electrical studies, including load flow, short circuit, protective device coordination, arc flash, grounding systems analysis, transient over-voltage, total harmonic distortion, lightning risk assessment, transfer limits and other AC system studies
  • Coordinate with Lead Design Engineers on system studies and how it may impact the current design of the Facility between the equipment selection, MV collection system(s), and substation design and equipment ratings.
  • Drive model validation efforts for newly commissioned plants that include testing and submission on behalf of ownership.
  • Perform testing and model validation for clients as a subject matter expert.
  • Ability to lead conversations on tasks to technical and non-technical employees and customers.
  • Seek knowledge and input from others to help innovate procedures and processes to perform model development, power plant testing, and model validation reporting.
  • Work closely with our SCADA partners to develop an automated package to remotely test the requirements for NERC MOD testing including higher resolution data acquisition and default testing modes withing the power plant controller.
  • Create intellectual property to differentiate DEPCOM as a leader in services and support being a one-source solution for our customers.
  • Identify and test new technologies and tools to achieve optimal productivity of personnel.
  • Support internal groups within DEPCOM with subject matter expertise.
  • Manage workload to prioritize competing demands while meeting deadlines and expectations.
  • Manage a database of equipment models furnished by DEPCOM's vendors and preferred partners, for use on multiple projects.


Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Bachelor or higher degree in electrical or related engineering with professional registration (Cedula Profesional - SEP) in Mexico.
  • At least three years of relevant professional experience in power system analysis in transient and steady analysis.
  • Knowledge of NERC and Regional ISO/Utility Model Validation and testing requirements
  • Experience using power systems analysis software, such as PSLF/PSSE/PSCAD, and steady-state electrical engineering software, such as SKM/ETAP/CDEGS/CYME
  • Understanding of detailed modeling and equivalent modeling, and ability to flag unreasonable model values or system level constraints.
  • Experience with managing deadlines and expectations for multiple projects in parallel
  • Substation Field Experience, including point-to-point wiring, equipment selection, and general design.
  • Experience in resource management
  • Knowledge of engineering principles for analysis and design
  • Ability to travel to US during short periods (Valid passport and visa)
  • Valid driving license
  • Fluent in English oral and written communication.


What Will Put You Ahead
  • Knowledge of utility scale solar, energy storage solutions, or repowering services
  • Proficiency using ETAP.
  • Hands-on expertise in programing LISP, .NET, Python or Dynamo programming
  • Knowledge of template drawings, sheet-set manager, and smart-blocks
  • Substation design experience
  • Understanding of balance of plant concepts.
  • Engineering software suite experience
  • PE Engineer registration (Canada or US).
  • Experience leading a team/ project management
