What's the job?
The Maintenance Manager oversees the efficient daily operation of mechanical and electrical systems, equipment across the resort, staff village, FOH and BOH areas, and the upkeep of plant rooms and public spaces, in line with the Preventative and Reactive Maintenance Programs (PMP and RMP). They play a key role in supporting the Chief Engineer and Maintenance Scheduler to eliminate unscheduled downtime by driving program deliverables. Additionally, the Maintenance Manager ensures effective leadership, staff development, training, performance monitoring, task allocation, adherence to quality and safety standards, and successful task completion by supervisors and support staff under their supervision.
Your day to day
  • Educate staff and guests on the importance of our policies on flora, fauna and pollution
  • Participate in public relations exercises promoted by resort including garden tours
  • Ensure punctual and efficient service is provided to our Guests
  • Recruit in conjunction with HR, train and carry out personal development plans of trade colleagues.
  • Manage, maintain and drive a high level of performance within the department, rewarding high performance when appropriate.
  • Oversee the introduction of the apprenticeship program, ensuring departmental preparedness, safety and supervision. Liaise with Trade SMEs around Apprentice development.
  • Ensure all the engineering team has the relevant and up to date licensing within the State to carry out their duties
  • Ensure safety and compliance requirements are met or adhered to while providing a high standard of workmanship.
  • Trouble shoot engineering related problems, plan and implement solutions and maintains record of repairs done in a quality system approach.
  • Department compliance with legislative controls for Contract work procurement. Work Place Health and Safety and Occupational Health and Safety both Federal and State.
  • Provide suitable plans to ensure the effective and efficient operation of all plant, industrial, equipment and systems within the resort
  • Responsible for the upkeep of all engineering Service contracts in place and implementing new ones as required
  • Overall Management of Trades team on a daily basis to ensure reporting to the Chief Engineering.
  • Exercise initiative when and where possible to improve methods of operation
What we need from you
  • Trade or academic qualifications
  • Electrical trade qualification and high voltage switching highly desirable
  • Confined space entry and working at heights highly desirable
  • Queensland Open driver’s license
  • Management qualifications are desirable
  • Queensland General Safety Induction Card
  • At least 3-5 years in an operational manager, construction manager or engineering manager role
  • Hotel or Resort experience highly regarded
  • Preventative Maintenance Management
  • Building Management Systems

  • Hotel, project or FM background
