About the Role:
We're looking for a hands-on, trade-qualified Carpenter to join the Maintenance team at Rydges Esplanade Resort Cairns. This is an all-round role where you'll draw on your carpentry trade skills while also contributing across a broad range of maintenance functions to keep our resort running beautifully. Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out carpentry and general maintenance tasks as directed by the Maintenance Manager, including work arising from the hotel maintenance checklist, Work Request System and Preventative Maintenance Program.
• Respond promptly to inter-departmental and guest requests relating to defects, repairs and general assistance, following up until all issues are fully resolved.
• Take initiative and show ownership across all aspects of the Engineering Department and hotel operations.
• Log all defects and work carried out accurately and in a timely manner.
• Work on a rotating basis as Shift Operator.
• Communicate urgent or potentially dangerous facility matters to the Maintenance Manager without delay.
• Ensure all public areas are consistently safe and all equipment is operating as it should.
• Assist other departments as required and maintain a collaborative, team-first approach.
• Uphold the hotel's grooming standards, OH& S guidelines and all operational policies and procedures.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment at all times.
• Attend all scheduled meetings and complete assigned opening and closing duties.

What You'll Bring:

• Trade qualification in Carpentry - this is essential.
• Solid all-round maintenance experience across a range of trades and functions.
• A proactive, can-do attitude with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise confidently across departments.
• A thorough understanding of OH& S practices and a commitment to a safe working environment.
• Experience in a hotel or hospitality environment is an advantage but not essential.
