What will you do?As a system engineer intern and part of the Room Controllers team at Schneider Electric in Montreal, you will work with our product owners, test leads and systems engineering experts to apply model-based systems engineering (MBSE) techniques to the SpaceLogic Touchscreen Room Controller (TRC).
Your primary focus will be to apply MBSE techniques to restructure and update requirements and test cases for the SpaceLogic Touchscreen Room Controller. In this restructure, you will:
- Learn more about MBSE, and how it's applied in product development. You'll be breaking up the platform into its logical features/components.
- Learn more about product platforming, and how it's used in the industry.
- Learn more and use Generative AI to improve your efficiency and the quality of your work.
- Determine how best to define features/components and their associated business logic, user interface and data items in a re-usable, modular fashion, simplifying definition and testing of future product variants that may combine different mixes of features.
- Update and restructure requirements within our requirements management system (Jama, Jira) and system engineering tools (Cameo).
Additional opportunities are available and can be discussed based on your areas of interest:
- Additional systems engineering work on other projects.
- Analyzing and defining new features with our product owners.
- Implementing new features in C/C++ with our developments.
- Testing and automating test of features with our testers.
You will work in a dynamic, agile team and gain exposure to:
- Product development with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
- Requirements management practices, using the Jama Connect requirements management software and working with subject matter experts within Schneider Electric.
- Embedded software development in C/C++ and the associated tools such as git.
- Modern continuous integration practices via GitHub.
- Product testing techniques, including test automation in Python.
Additional details: - The internship is available for a maximum of 6 months, full time. Shorter durations or combination of full/part time can be considered.
- Work Style: Hybrid. Physical attendance in our office will be required at least 2 days per week. More frequent attendance is highly encouraged to build connections and learn fast.
What qualifications will make you successful for this role?- Passion for systems engineering techniques and interesting in logically understanding and documenting product requirements.
- You need to be recently graduated (within the last year) or pursuing a System Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science degree.
