Description:
The Sustainability Leader will report to the VP of Strategy & Sustainability, Segments & Marketing, and will be instrumental in shaping the future of smart buildings within the Digital Buildings Line of Business.This role can be based in Montreal, Canada or Lund, Sweden.
Primary Responsibilities:
Collaborate with Digital Buildings league leaders, offer managers, and segment leads to:
Define sustainability priorities across product categories and segments.
Lead the sustainability planning process with collaboration from key stakeholders.
Identify and mitigate risks, implementing strategies with stakeholder engagement.
Ensure rigorous environmental data transparency and drive science-backed initiatives.
Lead initiatives on EcoDesign, sustainable packaging, low-carbon materials, product lifetime extension, recirculation, sustainable software, and regulatory compliance.
Stay updated on global regulations and prepare for early adoption and smooth transitions.
Present regular updates on sustainability progress and KPIs to internal stakeholders.
Environmental data quality and Lifecycle Assessments (LCA):
Maintain accurate and up-to-date environmental data for products.
Ensure timely data aggregation and publication for Lifecycle Assessments (LCAs).
Identify data needs and adhere to ISO standards for LCA creation.
Work with engineers, data owners, and leadership for efficient data flows.
Model scenarios to reduce embodied and operational carbon, driving Scope 3 emissions reductions.
Collaborate with external bodies for LCA audits.
Ensure LCA coverage and compliance with REACH & ROHS, including upskilling suppliers.
Renew expiring compliance requirements timely.
Monitor competitors to maintain leadership in LCA and data transparency.
Sustainability Thought Leadership, Partnerships, and Collaboration:
Conduct workshops and trainings on environmental sustainability for internal stakeholders.
Address sustainability needs and act as the primary point of contact for the Line of Business.
Develop and maintain collaborations for environmental data collection and analysis.
Collaboration with Division-Level Sustainability Teams:
Ensure alignment in environmental data, KPIs, reporting methods, and regulatory compliance with division-level sustainability teams.
Foster strong relationships across the organization to drive collaboration and support for sustainability initiatives.
What qualifications will make you successful for this role?
6-10+ years in technical sustainability leadership.
Bachelor's or Graduate degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, or related field.
Experience in research and development.
Demonstrated business and thought leadership.
Strong passion for sustainability.
Strong acumen in sales and marketing.
Proven ability to influence and convince.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytic and problem-solving skills.
Proven ability to work collaboratively across teams and functions.
Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Experience with Building Technologies, Healthy Buildings, Sustainable Buildings, Smart Buildings, or similar.
Experience with Agile principles is a plus.
