Vous dirigerez le programme d'hygiène industrielle (IH) de la région, en veillant à ce que la région dispose de programmes et de processus d'IH cohérents et à valeur ajoutée pour protéger la santé des employés en anticipant, en reconnaissant, en évaluant et en contrôlant les risques pour la santé au travail.

Vous serez également chargé(e) de diriger, de coordonner, de superviser et de normaliser les principales activités d'hygiène du travail dans la région, et de veiller à ce qu'il existe une documentation appropriée pour soutenir les programmes de gestion de la santé, conformément à la stratégie et à l'approche globales en matière d'hygiène du travail.

Sous la responsabilité du directeur ESS pour l'Amérique du Nord, vous devrez:

• Identifier, développer et diriger des stratégies régionales pour gérer les risques de santé au travail liés à l'ergonomie, au stress thermique, aux risques psychosociaux et à d'autres agents applicables.
• Aider à la mise en œuvre des systèmes IH (Alcoa IH, système FDS du fournisseur, système FDS Alcoa, identification des dangers, caractérisation des risques, évaluation qualitative et quantitative de l'exposition, etc.)
• Aider le personnel du site à élaborer et à maintenir des programmes complets de gestion de l'IH (protection respiratoire, évaluation de l'exposition et stratégies de contrôle, ergonomie, conservation de l'ouïe, communication des risques, rayonnement, examen des nouveaux matériaux, gestion des matières dangereuses).
• Veiller au respect des exigences légales et des engagements gouvernementaux.
• Formuler des recommandations sur les objectifs et les indicateurs de performance régionaux et mondiaux de l'IH.
• Offrir une expertise en la matière (SME) sur certains standards ESS d'Alcoa.
• Fournir une expertise en matière d'hygiène pour les allégations TSCA émanant de la région.
• Évaluer les conflits du travail liés à la santé et à l'hygiène et élaborer des stratégies d'atténuation.
• Soutenir le programme « Good Work Design » et mettre en œuvre le plan opérationnel conformément à la priorisation des risques ergonomiques.
• Effectuer des analyses comparatives internes, externes et mondiales afin d'identifier les meilleures pratiques.
• Promouvoir des campagnes et des programmes régionaux de sensibilisation aux politiques et programmes de santé.
• Assurer la normalisation, l'exactitude et la disponibilité des bases de données et des systèmes de santé et d'hygiène au travail.
• Organiser des formations / renforcer les compétences du personnel de santé et de sécurité des sites.
• Rechercher des certifications d'excellence en matière de santé et de bien-être au travail.

Votre contribution au poste

• Diplôme (ou équivalent) en hygiène industrielle, en chimie ou dans un domaine connexe; maîtrise en sciences de préférence.
• 10 à 15 ans d'expérience dans le domaine de l'hygiène, de la santé au travail et de l'ergonomie, idéalement au sein de grandes entreprises minières ou manufacturières.

• Capacité à partager des idées et à communiquer de manière à influencer les dirigeants régionaux, gérer les conflits, mener des discussions sur les priorités et partager les exigences.
• Expérience en tant qu'agent de changement, capable de travailler dans le cadre d'initiatives de transformation dans la région.
• Solides compétences analytiques.
• Connaissances pratiques des lois et règlements applicables au Canada et aux États-Unis en matière d'hygiène et de santé au travail.
• Compréhension de la santé mentale liée au travail, y compris la prévention et la gestion des maladies mentales sur le lieu de travail et des risques psychosociaux.
• Familiarité avec les principes de l’ESS et la gestion des risques.
• Proactivité, esprit d'équipe et capacité d'influence à tous les niveaux de l'organisation.
• Hygiéniste industriel certifié par l'American Board of Industrial Hygiène ou titre similaire (atout).
• Le bilinguisme français-anglais
• Disponibilité pour les déplacements professionnels - 25 %

About the role:

Lead the region’s Industrial Hygiene program (IH), ensuring that the region has consistent and value-added IH programs and processes to protect employee health by anticipating, recognizing, evaluating, and controlling occupational health hazards.

You will also be responsible for leading, coordinating, overseeing, and standardizing key occupational hygiene activities within the region, and ensuring appropriate documentation exists for supporting health management programs consistent with the global IH strategy and approach.

Reporting to the EHS Director for North America, you will:

• Identify, develop, and lead regional strategies to manage IH, occupational health risks related to ergonomics, heat stress, psychosocial risks, and other applicable agents

• Assist in implementing IH systems (Alcoa IH, SDS vendor system, SDS Alcoa system, hazard identification, risk characterization, qualitative and quantitative exposure assessment, etc.).

• Assist location personnel in developing and maintaining comprehensive IH management programs (respiratory protection, exposure assessment and control strategies, ergonomics, hearing conservation, hazard communication, radiation, new material review, hazardous materials management).

• Ensure compliance to legal requirements and government commitments

• Make recommendations on regional and global IH goals and KPIs.

• Offer Subject Matter Expertise (SME) on select Alcoa EHS Standards.

• Providing Hygiene expertise for TSCA allegations originating within the region.

• Assess health and hygiene related labour disputes and develop mitigation strategies.

• Support Good Work Design program and deliver operational plan in line with ergonomic risks prioritization.

• Conduct internal, external, and global benchmarking to identify best practices

• Promote campaigns and regional programs to raise awareness about health policies and programs.

• Ensure standardization, accuracy and availability of occupational health and hygiene databases and systems.

• Conduct trainings / skill builders for locations H& S personnel.

• Seek certifications of excellence in Occupational Health and Wellbeing.

What you bring to the role

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Industrial Hygiene, chemistry or related field;
• 10-15 years’ experience in Hygiene, Occupational Health and Ergonomics setting;

• Ability to share insights to influence regional leaders, manage conflicts, driving prioritization discussions and sharing of requirements.
• Experience as change agent, adept in working in transformational initiatives across the region.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Working knowledge of the applicable laws and regulations in Canada and US concerning Hygiene and Occupational Health
• Understanding of work-related mental health, including prevention and management of mental illness in the workplace and psychosocial risks.
• Familiarity with EHS principles and risk management.
• Proactivity, strong teamwork and influence skills at all levels of the organization
• Certified Industrial Hygienist by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene or similar designation (asset).
• Bilingual French and English
• Work travel availability – 25%
