About the role:
Lead the region’s Industrial Hygiene program (IH), ensuring that the region has consistent and value-added IH programs and processes to protect employee health by anticipating, recognizing, evaluating, and controlling occupational health hazards.
You will also be responsible for leading, coordinating, overseeing, and standardizing key occupational hygiene activities within the region, and ensuring appropriate documentation exists for supporting health management programs consistent with the global IH strategy and approach.
Reporting to the EHS Director for North America, you will:
• Identify, develop, and lead regional strategies to manage IH, occupational health risks related to ergonomics, heat stress, psychosocial risks, and other applicable agents
• Assist in implementing IH systems (Alcoa IH, SDS vendor system, SDS Alcoa system, hazard identification, risk characterization, qualitative and quantitative exposure assessment, etc.).
• Assist location personnel in developing and maintaining comprehensive IH management programs (respiratory protection, exposure assessment and control strategies, ergonomics, hearing conservation, hazard communication, radiation, new material review, hazardous materials management).
• Ensure compliance to legal requirements and government commitments
• Make recommendations on regional and global IH goals and KPIs.
• Offer Subject Matter Expertise (SME) on select Alcoa EHS Standards.
• Providing Hygiene expertise for TSCA allegations originating within the region.
• Assess health and hygiene related labour disputes and develop mitigation strategies.
• Support Good Work Design program and deliver operational plan in line with ergonomic risks prioritization.
• Conduct internal, external, and global benchmarking to identify best practices
• Promote campaigns and regional programs to raise awareness about health policies and programs.
• Ensure standardization, accuracy and availability of occupational health and hygiene databases and systems.
• Conduct trainings / skill builders for locations H& S personnel.
• Seek certifications of excellence in Occupational Health and Wellbeing.
