Amsted Canada has established a new Business Center in downtown Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. We are elevating our Global Technology teams in several areas including but not limited to Security, Development, Infrastructure, Emerging Technology, SAP, and Engineering. These teams are instrumental in providing support to all Amsted affiliate locations worldwide.

Position Details

The SAP Analyst (QM/PP) position is part of our SAP Applications support team. The analyst will engage directly with business users and process owners, as well as interact with the SAP support team and other application support teams to provide seamless support to the business. The analyst is also responsible for managing SAP business process changes and configuration in the QM module, and supporting the integration with other external applications where applicable. Additionally, the analyst will serve as a backup for supporting production planning-related business functions in SAP and is expected to be familiar with SAP PP Module configuration and the integration of PP with other external applications as well.

What you will do:

  • Configure, maintain and support SAP QM and PP Module areas of SAP.
  • Plan, design, develop, test, deploy and support SAP solutions. Ensure that business requirements and technical direction are consistent with global design across all business units and prepare well-defined Business Process Documents.
  • Act independently as Production Operations and Quality Management SAP Subject Matter Expert including the ability to understand SAP QM and PP business processes across multiple business units, troubleshoot issues on a timely manner and deliver seamless support to the business.
  • Recommend and prototype solution options (including advantages and disadvantages of each option) for presentation to user community.
  • Ensure Change Control procedures are met for on-going change/enhancement projects. Analyze and evaluate systems requirements for system solutions that improve business processes and increase productivity.
  • Prepare detailed functional specifications from which programs will be written, and test, debug and document such programs. Identify and perform bug fixing through logging OSS notes with SAP.
  • Perform end-user training and develop training manuals. Develop and execute Unit and Integration tests as necessary to support the implementation of new or changed functionalities.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree Information Management, Computer Science or any Business-related field.
  • At least 3 years of functional experience in repetitive manufacturing and/or some combination of discrete manufacturing environments(s) supporting SAP QM and PP modules.
  • Experience with PP and QM functions in SAP S/4 HANA is a big plus.
  • Experience in a production support environment will be a definite advantage.
  • Proven experience in SAP QM in the functionality of Catalogs, Notifications, Inspection Plans, and Master Inspection Characteristics.
  • Detailed work experience configuring MRP, work centers, bills of materials, routings, product cost collectors, production versions, back flushing, finite/infinite scheduling, demand planning, capacity planning, planning table, and other standard SAP PP capabilities.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and conceptual skills including the ability to translate complex technical concepts in business terms.
  • Proven problem-solving capabilities in a heavily customized SAP shop floor environment, including the ability to develop creative solutions that address customer needs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and collaborate at all levels of the organization ranging from Shop floor personnel to Management.
  • A team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Key Challenges:

  • Ability to Interact and mentor a team of SAP functional Analysts with varying SAP experience as well as other application teams to provide seamless support to the business.
  • Ability to travel at least 30% of the time.
  • Ability to work with all business partners across the organization to ensure standard SAP best practices are always followed.
  • Ability to ensure that the team can maintain frequent and efficient stakeholder communication with all business partners and key managers across the organization.
  • Ability to read ABAP code and proficiency in debugging is highly desirable.
