How You Will Make an Impact
The Industrial Engineer is responsible for analyzing manufacturing processes, conducting time studies, establishing production rates, and implementing methods to optimize productivity and efficiency. The Industrial Engineer is responsible for maintaining accurate labor standards and routings, leading periodic updates to the costing system, supporting estimating and product engineering with production estimates, supporting new product development, analyzing production performance, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

The Nuts and Bolts
Time Studies: Conduct time and motion studies to analyze manufacturing processes, identify inefficiencies, and establish accurate labor standards for various tasks and operations

Rate Maintenance: Establish and maintain production rates for manufacturing processes, ensuring that labor standards are up-to-date and reflective of current operating conditions, equipment capabilities, and workforce skill levels

Simulation Modeling: Utilize simulation software to model and simulate various manufacturing scenarios. This includes creating accurate representations of production lines, workflows, and logistics systems to test different strategies and identify optimal solutions.

Work Measurement: Develop and implement work measurement systems, including timekeeping methods, data collection techniques, and productivity tracking tools, to monitor and evaluate performance against established standards

Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and productivity enhancement through data analysis, root cause analysis, and implementation of best practices, standard work procedures, and ergonomic principles

Method Analysis: Analyze work methods, layouts, workflow, and material handling practices to streamline operations, reduce waste, and optimize resource utilization, with a focus on improving safety, quality, and efficiency

Training and Support: Provide training and support to production teams, supervisors, and managers on time study techniques, rate maintenance procedures, and performance measurement tools to ensure understanding and compliance with established standards

Data Analysis and Reporting: Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to labor productivity, cycle times, throughput, and other key performance indicators (KPIs), and prepare reports, charts, and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, engineering, quality, and supply chain, to implement process improvements, resolve issues, and achieve departmental and organizational goals

Supervision and Leadership: Provide leadership, direction, and guidance to the industrial engineering team, including assigning tasks, setting priorities, and managing workload to ensure timely and effective completion of projects and initiatives

Required Credentials
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree or professional certification preferred

Industrial engineering experience, with a focus on time studies, rate maintenance, and process improvement in a manufacturing environment

Experience in a sheet metal coating industry preferred

Proficiency in time study techniques, work measurement methods, and industrial engineering tools/software (e.g., MOST, MTM, time study software)
