Description:

The Driver/ Employment Transportation Assistant is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of Individuals to and from community employment opportunities. This position requires flexibility as to the location of community employment positions and work shift schedules may change. This position supports the Individuals working through the Employment program.

The schedule is Mon 7: 45a-9: 45a/11: 00a-4: 15p, Tu 8a-10a/11: 00a-4: 15p, Wed 6: 15a-10a/11: 00a-4: 15p, Th 7a-9a/11: 15a-4: 15p, Fri 6: 15a-10: 15a/11a-4: 15p.

This job is inclusive of, but not excluded to the following duties:

  • Adhere to the set schedule of pickup and delivery of Individuals we support, unless otherwise arranged.
  • Arriving and departing on time, requesting time off with advance notice. ETA's are responsible for managing their allotted benefit time in a manner that promotes success within the department.
  • Check the vehicle assigned to the driver on a regular basis.
  • Responsible Vehicle inspections include: check gasoline level; check oil level; check brake fluid; check transmission fluid; check belts; check windshield washer fluid; clean vehicles weekly- both inside and out; check tire pressure and condition.
  • Communicate vehicle safety issues or concerns to the supervisor as soon as the issue is found.
  • Operate agency vehicle in a safe, defensive manner that complies with driving laws established by the Department of Transportation.
  • Report any traffic violations or accidents to the supervisor immediately.
  • Responsible for having all passengers adhere to seat belt laws and making sure that all passengers wear their seatbelts.
  • Maintain training certifications (CPR, BPS, and other training certifications as deemed appropriate)
  • Read IP/ISP’s for individuals transported as the plans are updated. Implement supervision and support needs as outlined.
  • Communication with stakeholders should be frequent, on task, and involve necessary parties.
  • Represent Penn-Mar in a professional manner in the community. Serve as employment support to individuals as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum High School Diploma/ G.E.D.
  • Acceptable criminal background.
  • Valid Driver's License with 2 yrs. of consecutive driving experience.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment Drug Screen/ Physical/ Mantoux Test (PPD, TB).
