Orthodontic Assistant – West Chester, PA

Assist the Orthodontist chairside during orthodontic procedures
Greet and escort patients to operatories
Take radiographs as instructed by the provider
Set up and break down operatories for each patient
Clean and disinfect treatment areas after each visit
Maintain sterilization protocols and infection control standards according to OSHA, federal, and state guidelines
Maintain equipment and ensure materials are stocked daily
Support front desk operations including scheduling appointments, checking in patients, and verifying patient demographics
Retrieve charts and document treatment plans and patient information
Assist with general office administration tasks
0–5 years of experience in a dental or orthodontic setting
Vocational/Technical training or Associate’s Degree preferred
Radiology Certification and DPH Dental Assistant License required
Familiarity with dental software, email, and Microsoft Word
Ability to lift 25 lbs. with or without accommodation
Beginning orthodontic records: study models, X-rays, panorex, cephalometric images, and digital photographs
Experience with 1BA, adjustments, FCDB, and debands
Taking impressions, pouring and trimming models for appliances and presentations
Handling lab cases including retainers, appliances, and study models
Photo documentation including intra-oral and extra-oral photos
Bending and coordinating arch wires
Removal of fixed bands and brackets
Wire removal and placement
Ligature removal and replacement
Fitting headgear and providing instructions to patients
Sizing, fitting, and cementing orthodontic bands
Taking PVS impressions and bite registrations for Invisalign treatment
Separator placement
Fabrication of orthodontic retainers
Orthodontic case presentations to patients and parents
Educating patients and parents on oral hygiene, rubber band wear, treatment progress, and cooperation
Coordinating communication between orthodontists and general dentists
Ordering orthodontic supplies and maintaining inventory
Experience working with patients with special healthcare needs, including those with cognitive or developmental conditions
Strong communication, organization, and time management skills
Ability to work closely with parents, guardians, and caregivers
