Description:

This Finance Internship provides a tremendous opportunity for a degree seeking individual to learn and becoming familiar with general accounting principles and their incorporation at NESL. Depending on length of internship, interns will gain experience in and exposure to many different aspects of NESL’s Finance department. Ideally, this program will help guide interns toward a career path that aligns with their interests and abilities. In addition, this program seeks to provide permanent employment opportunities upon graduation.

Internship Structure

A mentor will be assigned to each intern and will remain with the intern for the duration of the internship. In addition, interns will interact with key positions across Finance and various members of Operations. These interactions and relationships are intentionally designed to help the intern develop their skillset and grow professionally.

Assignment Overview

The intern will be responsible for practicing their accounting knowledge and skills in a professional office setting. Their duties will include supporting accounting teams with various accounting projects and tasks.

Travel to and from assignments and jobsites may occasionally be required. Travel expenses are reimbursable according to NESL Policy.

Areas of focus may include the following:

  • Product Line Accounting – Cost Accounting, Forecasting, Analysis, and Revenue Recognition
  • Fixed Assets – Fixed Plant and Mobile Equipment
  • Shared Services – Accounts Payable, Billing, Cash Application, Payroll, Fuel Accounting
  • Corporate Accounting – SG& A, Financial Reporting, Credit, and Purchasing
  • Audit – Internal and external requests

Qualifications - Who Are We Looking For?

  • Must be actively enrolled in degree program in Business, Accounting, Finance, or other related field.
  • Familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
