What you will do

The Principal Engineer, Automation will provide Technical Leadership to the Systems Engineering and Automation group. Responsible for the overall business and manufacturing systems and related infrastructure. Responsibilities include the planning, implementation and support to manufacturing, administration, packaging, facilities, utilities and laboratory systems technologies and remote locations. Responsible for driving the development and execution of the site's Digitalization Strategy to enhance operational efficiency and innovation. Provide leadership in the development and implementation of Computerized Systems Validation (CSV) in compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs). Complies with safety and environmental regulations to ensure execution, compliance, and proper reporting.

  • Ensures employees are trained in necessary procedures and stay updated on training requirements throughout the year.
  • Encourages employee participation in workplace improvements and corrections.
  • Adheres to business conduct principles in all negotiations and activities to maintain compliance.
  • Emphasizes a commitment to quality, compliance, and employee engagement, ensuring all team members are adequately trained and involved in maintaining workplace standards.
  • Complies with EHS trainings, policies, and procedures, including the ISO 14001 Standard.
  • Maintains a safe work environment by following rules related to personal protective equipment, fire safety, spill reporting, and specific EHS program requirements.
  • Encourages employee involvement in safety and environmental changes and promotes participation in EHS initiatives.
  • Monitors EHS performance, generates metrics on employee participation, and notifies supervisors of incidents or unsafe conditions.
  • Actively participates in waste reduction, energy conservation, and ergonomic programs to support the organization's EHS goals.
  • Manage the Systems Engineering and Automation group at the Kenvue Lititz Manufacturing site, providing 24/7 technical support across all departments.
  • Oversee the operation of manufacturing infrastructure and ensure compliance with procedures through effective management of the Systems Vault.
  • Develop and implement strategic business plans for continuous improvement while forecasting and managing the department budget.
  • Lead the development and implementation of Computerized Systems Validation (CSV) strategies in compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs).
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners on new product launches and automation initiatives to drive cost reduction and quality compliance.
  • Establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the Systems Engineering group, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
  • Promote professional development and engagement among staff, fostering an environment focused on customer and consumer needs while encouraging innovation.


What we are looking for

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 8-10 years of proven experience in automation engineering
  • University/Bachelors Degree or Equivalent in Engineering or related field
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++
  • Experience with automation tools and frameworks such as Selenium, Appium, or Robot Framework
  • Ability to interpret and apply current Good Manufacturing Practices. Strong understanding of project management principles and the use of various tools designed to enhance project planning, execution, and monitoring. Mathematics skills and analytical ability.
  • Knowledge in client /server architecture and connectivity concepts. Knowledge in computer system validation. Basic computer knowledge (Microsoft Office software - Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Must be able to make decisions based on available facts while meeting established deadlines and priorities.
  • Demonstrated leadership.
  • Certifications/Licenses: Project Management preferred.

What's in it for you

Annual base salary for new hires in this position ranges:

$124, 100.00 - $175, 200.00

This takes into account a number of factors including work location, the candidate's skills, experience, education level & other job-related factors.
