We are searching for the best talent for Senior Scientist, Cell Line Development in Spring House, PA.

Purpose: The Therapeutics Development & Supply department of Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is seeking an ambitious Senior Scientist to join the Cell Line Development group located in Spring House, PA. Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine discovers and develops novel solutions to support the unmet medical needs in oncology, immunology, and neuroscience disease areas. Our group specifically generates cell lines that produce large molecule therapeutics in support of the fast-growing pipeline for these various therapeutic areas.

As a member of the cell line development team, the candidate will play a crucial role in advancing technology for the next generation of biologics production cell lines. They will plan and execute experiments to overcome limitations of current protein expression systems, focusing on cellular pathways to enhance the quantity and quality of therapeutic proteins.

You will be responsible for:

• Developing new and innovative technologies for next generation mammalian cell lines secreting complex proteins
• Cell culture development for all protein therapeutics
• Evaluating and implementing cutting-edge technologies in cell biology, molecular biology, genome editing or equipment to improve protein yields and shorten timelines.
• Participating in projects from Lead Optimization to New Molecular Entity declaration within a cross-functional environment

In addition to supporting improved Manufacturing Cell Line Development, the candidate will play a key role in liaising with Discovery, Analytical Sciences and Cell Culture Teams for increasing yields and quality of biotherapeutic proteins.

Qualifications / Requirements:

Education:

• Minimum of a Master’s Degree in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or related scientific field is required. PhD highly preferred.

Experience/Skills:

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in cell culture, protein expression is required.
• Experience in evaluating, constructing and optimizing biosynthetic pathways utilizing cutting-edge genomics, transcriptomics, protein engineering, and gene editing tools is required.
• Expertise in developing assays for screening of cell lines with high specific and volumetric productivity is required.
• Proven track record of versatility in cell engineering & cell line development is required.
• Ability to work in a matrix environment and connect with different functional groups and people in multiple levels.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with maintaining detailed records of work, timely documentation in laboratory notebooks and ability to clearly and concisely present research findings
