We are searching for the best talent for a Scientist, Process Analytical Sciences-Separations to be located in Malvern, PA.


Purpose: The Therapeutics Discovery & Supply (TDS) department is recruiting for a Scientist located in Malvern, PA. We discover and develop creative large molecule solutions to address significant unmet medical needs in oncology, immunology, neuroscience, infectious diseases and vaccines, and cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. Within TDS, the Analytical Development group supports method development and validation, release and stability testing, structural characterization, and preparation of regulatory filings.


You will join the Process Analytical Sciences-Separations assays team within TDS-AD. The role supports a wide variety of therapeutic biologic programs that include monoclonal antibodies, bi-specific antibodies, fusions, vaccines, and gene therapies. A broad range of skills are required for various protein analytical technologies including chromatography, electrophoresis, mass spectrometry, and spectroscopy applications.


You will be responsible for:

  • Conducting execution of separation-based analytical assays for biologics drug development to quantify size variants, excipient content, charge variants, etc.
  • Thriving in a team setting in a dynamic environment, contribute technical expertise to multiple large molecule programs, be proficient with documentation and review of analytical data.
  • Demonstrating excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills combined with technical, writing, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrating strong attention to detail and record keeping.
  • Addressing complex problems through data analysis requiring strong process knowledge and in-depth evaluation of multiple variables.
  • Engaging in a cross-functional team environment and provide mentorship to other lab personnel.
  • Collaborating with various J& J partner groups, such as the API, DPD, LMAD, and Discovery, to ensure adoption and implementation of process improvements, stability, and process validation for the preparation of biologics for clinical trials.
  • Applying project metrics and lessons learned to improve business results and product launch processes in the region.
  • Serving as instrument owner and managing equipment qualifications and maintenance.
  • Completing all electronic lab notebooks, GMP, and safety trainings as required in a timely fashion.


Qualifications / Requirements:

Education:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor' s degree is required. An advanced degree (Master' s) is preferred.


Experience and Skills:

  • 2+ years of Pharma/Biotech industry experience is required.
  • Strong background in multiple separation-based technologies (e.g.,
    HPLC/UPLC, RID, ELSD, cIEF, cSDS, electrophoresis, etc.) is preferred.
  • Ability to creatively solve technical problems while meeting project timelines is preferred.
  • Ability to work with limited guidance to plan, implement, and follow through studies is preferred.
  • Excellence in troubleshooting and routine instrument maintenance is preferred.


Other:

  • This role is based in Malvern and may require up to 5% of domestic and international travel.
