Job Summary

With a commitment to patient- and family-centered care, the Professional Nurse uses the nursing process in ways that value the uniqueness of each individual, addressing the physical, psychological, emotional, and social needs of the diverse patient population served by Jefferson Health. The RN develops nursing plans of care in partnership with the patient and designated care partner(s) to effectively address individualized needs and priorities consistent with personal beliefs and cultural values.

Key Responsibilities

• Integrate Evidence-Based Practice, clinical expertise, and patient/family preferences into individualized care delivery.

• Partner with patients and designated care partners to identify learning priorities and provide clear, understandable health education.

• Minimize risk of harm by adhering to established clinical nursing practices, safety protocols, and health information technology systems.

• Utilize quality improvement methodologies and clinical data to monitor outcomes and continuously elevate patient safety standards.

• Function effectively within interprofessional healthcare teams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making.

• Create an inclusive environment of belonging, demonstrating active problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.

• Demonstrate a commitment to professional growth, act in a primary preceptor role for staff members, and participate in hospital safety and quality governance committees.

Qualifications & Requirements

Licenses & Certifications (Required):

• RN License: Licensed Registered Nurse – State of Pennsylvania (PA).

• Life Support: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – American Heart Association (AHA).

Education:

• Required: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (Specialized Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing).

• Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or commitment to complete BSN within 3 years of hire.

Required Experience & Competencies:

• Unit Experience: Prior clinical experience in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or Stepdown care environment.

• Specialized Training: Completion of a recognized Dysrhythmia Course (e.g., American Association of Critical-Care Nurses / AACN standards).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Patient & Family-Centered Care: Demonstrated ability to convey respect and collaborate effectively with patients, families, and care partners.

• Cultural Awareness: Proficiency in communicating respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

• Clinical Assessment & Documentation: Knowledge of advanced physical assessment, nursing diagnoses, treatment planning, and accurate Electronic Health Record (EHR) documentation.

• Pharmacology: Sound knowledge of medication administration, dosage calculations, and patient discharge teaching.
