Project Cost Analytics & Reporting Manager

Position Summary Homer City Redevelopment is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Project Cost Analytics & Reporting Manager to support one of the largest energy infrastructure developments in the United States. This role will be responsible for analyzing large volumes of project financial data, identifying and correcting project cost coding issues, maintaining project cost integrity within NetSuite, and developing reporting tools that provide management with accurate cost, budget, and forecasting information. The ideal candidate combines strong data analysis skills with hands-on ERP experience and a deep understanding of project cost management in construction, energy, manufacturing, or other capital-intensive industries. Key Responsibilities Project Cost Data Analytics Analyze large transaction datasets to determine proper project, task, cost code, and purchase order assignments.Review invoices, commitments, purchase orders, change orders, and accounting transactions for coding accuracy.Identify transactions assigned to incorrect projects, budgets, vendors, or cost categories.Investigate cost anomalies, duplicate charges, budget exceptions, and coding inconsistencies.Develop recommendations for reallocating costs between projects and cost structures.Create repeatable business rules for transaction classification and project cost assignment. ERP System Maintenance Execute approved project cost corrections within NetSuite and associated systems.Update project assignments, cost codes, tasks, and purchase orders as needed.Maintain project master data to ensure consistency and reporting accuracy.Support ongoing cleanup and optimization efforts related to project financial data.Monitor compliance with project coding standards and recommend corrective actions. Cost Tracking & Controls Develop and maintain a centralized project cost tracking database.Consolidate actual costs, commitments, purchase orders, change orders, and forecasts into a single reporting framework.Create reconciliations between project controls systems and ERP data.Maintain detailed audit trails supporting all transaction corrections and reallocations.Support estimate-at-completion and budget forecasting activities. Dashboard & Reporting Development Design and maintain Power BI dashboards and management reports.Develop reporting for: Budget vs. Actual PerformanceProject Spend TrendsCommitment TrackingPurchase Order UtilizationVendor Spend AnalyticsChange Order TrackingForecast at Completion (FAC)Estimate at Completion (EAC)Cost Variance Analysis Automate recurring reporting processes where possible.Develop executive-level reporting packages and KPI scorecards. Forecasting & Business Insights Identify project cost trends and emerging risks.Support project leadership with budget forecasting and variance analysis.Conduct root-cause analysis of cost overruns and project budget exceptions.Provide recommendations to improve project cost visibility and decision-making. Process Improvement Develop and document project coding standards and procedures.Create automated exception reporting and validation controls.Recommend process improvements to improve data quality and reporting efficiency.Partner with Accounting, Procurement, Project Controls, and Project Management teams to improve project financial reporting processes. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, Business, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.5+ years of experience in project cost analytics, project controls, financial analysis, or construction cost management.Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Power Query, Pivot Tables, and large dataset analysis.Experience working with ERP systems such as NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, JD Edwards, or similar platforms.Strong experience with Power BI or comparable business intelligence tools.Demonstrated ability to analyze and reconcile large volumes of transactional data.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Preferred Experience supporting large-scale construction, infrastructure, power generation, or industrial projects.Knowledge of project controls concepts, including WBS, CBS, commitments, forecasting, and earned value principles.Experience with SQL and database reporting tools.Familiarity with NetSuiteExperience building executive dashboards and automated reporting solutions.
