General Description: The Psychology Resident is responsible for providing clinical services within the context of their assigned program and/or service, while utilizing the experience as part of their formal educational training through a field placement agreement with their college/university as part of their pre-doctoral psychology internship requirement.
Job Function(s): - Maintain knowledge of the organization and management of clinical and/or treatment services for behavioral health clients.
- Effectively implement program goals regarding service delivery.
- Maintain compliance with agency clinical and administrative standards as a clinical resident and consistent with the field placement agreement approved by the resident's college/university.
- Maintain regular attendance at resident meetings and program staff meetings to meet the administrative needs of the program.
- Report to direct supervisor, and other administrative staff as required, in a timely and comprehensive manner.
- Complete all personally required training as per the Professional Development Plan.
- Submit to Human Resources promptly copies of all required documentation regarding degrees, licenses, certifications, clearances, and formal training.
- Provide quality services based on established best practice principles of care.
- Maintain quality documentation of clinical service delivery.
- Assist supervisor in evaluating program effectiveness and developing annual program plan.
- Maintain professional relationships with clients, payers, and community support service representatives and agencies.
- Assist supervisor with new proposal development, when requested, for service enhancement or expansion in response to RFPs or other growth opportunities.
- Maintain effectiveness in providing all authorized client services and providing supporting documentation for re-authorizations, as necessary, promptly.
- Submit timely and accurate payroll and billing documentation.
- Demonstrate knowledge of mental illnesses and disabilities, their symptoms, treatment, and social implications; knowledge of the principles, philosophy, and practice of substance abuse treatment, as applicable to the population treated by therapist; and knowledge of the principles, philosophy of treating special populations, such as adolescents, geriatric, as applicable to population treated by therapist.
- Provide direct clinical service delivery relevant to the program description
- Receive weekly supervision from designated supervisor(s)
- Develop and oversee the implementation of treatment plans
- Evaluate clients, interpret results of findings, make decisions, and prescribe or carry out a course of treatment
- Conduct psychological and/or neuropsychological evaluations as requested
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Participate in peer group supervision, as well as relevant program staff meetings
- Provide clinical supervision to a designated practicum student under the supervision of a supervising psychologist
- Attend training as required
- Review charts
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements: Education/Experience: - Master's degree in clinical or counseling psychology
- 600 hours of supervised clinical practicums within the context of a doctoral psychology program
- Approval of readiness by the student's graduate school Director of Clinical Training
NOTE: At the discretion of the Personnel Officer, additional related experience and/or education may be substituted in lieu of the requirements specified under Education and Experience
