Join our Jr. 76ers Academy team: Be a Hero to Campers as a Coach at Jr. 76ers Academy!

Join our mission-driven team at the #1 Camp in the NBA! At Jr. 76ers Academy, we are on a mission to create an overnight summer camp experience like no other for players ages 10 to 17. We are looking for energetic and passionate people to join our team and make a positive impact while having a blast!

Head Coaches will stay on-campus at Neumann University. Housing and meals are included for all positions on-site, in addition to a weekly stipend.

An Assistant Coach handles camper group management and assists with basketball instruction, skill development, and games for Jr. 76ers Academy. Assistant Coaches lead evening Residential Activities, serve as a referee in games and provide support to Head Coaches in one of the following age groups:

  • Rookies: ages 10 to 12
  • Sophomores: ages 13 to 14
  • Veterans: ages 14 to 17

Camp Location and Dates:

The Jr. 76ers Academy is held at Neumann University (1 Neumann Drive, Aston, PA 19014). Each camp runs from Sunday through Friday, with four total weeks of camp offered. Players and staff members live in the residence halls at Neumann University and dine in the University's Dining Center for all meals.

  • Week 1: July 7 to July 12
  • Week 2: July 14 to July 19
  • Week 3: July 21 to July 26
  • Week 4: July 28 to August 2

Position Scope

  • The Jr. 76ers Academy team delivers orientation, training, and equipping prior to the start of camp.
  • Staff will have off on Friday afternoons, Saturdays and Sunday mornings. All team members are on-duty from the start of camper arrival (Sunday at 1: 00 PM) until the conclusion of camp (Friday at 1: 00 PM).

Requirements:

  • Basketball Background: Experience playing youth, scholastic, or college basketball preferred.
  • Experience: We are looking for experience working with children.
    • Previous experience working with children in a camp setting is preferred.
    • Youth coaching experience preferred.
  • Age Requirements: Must be at least age 18 by the start of camp.
  • Hours: Sunday 1: 00 pm to 11: 00pm, Monday through Thursday 7: 00 am to 11: 00 pm, Friday 7: 00 am to 1: 00 pm.
  • Schedule Commitment: Any schedule changes or time off must be pre-approved by the Site Director.
  • Required Training: Complete all required Jr. 76ers, ESF and state-mandated training and onboarding.
  • Dress Code: Maintain the "Jr. 76ers Look" (camp uniform) and embody the spirit of the camp.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Dive into the Camp Day! Promote and participate in daily basketball activities with enthusiasm, collaborating effectively with fellow coaches.
    • Assistant Head Coaches in an assigned division.
    • Lead residential activities and create programming to engage campers.
    • Help prepare rooms and housing assignments for camp.
    • Help to instruct and act as a referee.
    • Supervise team during the camp day, including during meals and evening activities.
  • Safety & Positive Group Management: Ensure the safety and well-being of campers with an emphasis on positive behavior and effective group management. Promptly report any concerns to the Director.
  • Be the Ultimate Role Model: Supervise campers, while fostering a positive, welcoming, and safe environment.
    • Demonstrate ESF Core Values & Code daily, from “Gratitude” to “Bring It” daily.
    • Model the ESF Virtues of Character (Gratitude, Respect, Trustworthiness, Effort, Kindness, Positivity, Resilience, Community) in camp daily.
    • Adhere to all company policies.
    • Communication: Maintain clear, concise, and engaging communication with campers, families, peers, and our leadership team.

Reporting Relationships:

  • Reports directly to and takes direction from the Head Coach, Division Coordinator and Basketball Director, with additional accountability to the Site Director.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Push/pull, lift, and carry a minimum of thirty-five (35) pounds across campus. Work outside, upright, and mobile for six (6) to eight (8) hours per day
  • Respond to emergencies, including running (up to 1 mile in some cases) and ascending stairs without undue exertion.
