Position Title: Shift Supervisor

Location: Enlow Fork Mine

Position Summary

Manage the safe production of coal and the installation and movement of equipment & machinery that support coal production for one shift.

Target Responsibilities

• Must adhere to CORE Natural Resources first principles including Safety, Sustainability, and Continuous Improvement.
• Plans efficient mining activities and procedures that safely maximize productivity and profitability of the shift.
• Works with first-line supervisors to ensure that all safety, production and cost objectives are met or exceed for the shift and knows the status of these numbers on a day to day basis.
• Communicates mine plans, changes and company policies and procedures to supervisors and employees.
• Works with the maintenance department to minimize downtime and develop and execute efficient maintenance activities.
• Works with the Safety department and Mine Foreman regarding all safety related activities, including: audits safety programs, inspects operations and reviews accident investigation to reduce and prevent any potential accident situation.
• Leads and encourages continuous improvement projects.
• Communicates with Mine Foreman potential opportunities, which would improve the operation and any problems that would impact the running of a productive and safe operation.
• Work with the Supervisor Human Resources and Mine Foreman to resolve industrial and employee relations issues, schedule training, coordinate employee communications and resolve conflicts.
• Works with Warehouse Supervisor to ensure the availability of required supplies, services and equipment to meet production objectives.
• Works with Office Manager/Mine Clerk to make sure all payroll systems are correct.
• May perform the duties of other Shift Supervisors.
• May assume the duties of direct supervisor due to absence.
• Coordinates and communicates with engineering, maintenance and other departments or shifts as needed to maintain an efficient and safe operation

Preferred Requirements

• Requires High School diploma
• Requires 8-10 years of related experience in mine operations and electrical & mechanical maintenance; or bachelor’s degree in engineering, mining electronics or a related field and 6-8 years of experience
• Requires thorough knowledge of coal mining operations; including safety, production, maintenance, economics, equipment usage and staff utilization.
• Requires supervisory and management skills and experience.
• Require special certifications, which may include Mine foreman, fireboss, rescue and first aid.
• Must possess effective verbal communication skills.
• Must have basic computer skills including familiarity with Oracle, word processing and spreadsheet applications.
• Must be available to work overtime, weekends and holidays as schedule requires.
• Must be able to work shift rotation.
• Must be able to work as scheduled and arrive at the worksite promptly to plan work assignments and prepare for the start of the shift.
• Must be able to perform heavy work as defined by the Dictionary of Occupational Titles which may include but not limited to lift, carry, pull/push, climb, shovel, walk, or pry. *Physical demands of the job are subject to change based on industry demands
