Position Title: Assistant Mine Engineer

Location: Consol Pennsylvania Coal Company – Bailey Mine

Position Summary

This position is an intermediate engineering position located at Bailey Mine, part of the Pennsylvania Mining Complex. This position is responsible for preparing plans and reports for State and Federal Agencies.

  • Must comply with company policies, federal and state laws, and regulatory standards
  • Assists Mine Engineer and Mine Management in all daily tasks needed to operate multiple Continuous Miner Sections and Longwalls.
  • Monitor daily production at the mine and verify MPR input versus Shift Productions and Delay reports for STIC.
  • Manage and work with Mine Surveyors and Draftsman to verify check line surveys are accurate and within 2, 000 feet of all section face locations.
  • Work underground routinely to check on projects, section conditions, and bleeder and air course ventilation.
  • Coordinate Degas borehole sites, CBM Wells and Flares for the Bailey Operation.
  • Maintain the CONSOL Forecaster program, evaluate mine timing, and assists the Mine Engineer with projections and mine planning.
  • Manage gas well pillar permits, cut thru plans and agency submittals, coordinate mines need with Project engineers.
  • Work with the Mine Foremen and other mine management in ventilation, mapping, and updating mine maps and ventilation.
  • Work with the Project engineers to coordinate the underground to surface interaction of projects.
  • Coordinate and supervise special projects, belt installations, and mine fresh water and discharge projects.
  • Write requisitions, obtain purchase orders and tracks expenditures: for contracts, and projecting materials.
  • Make budget recommendations to managers responsible for financing and approving budgets.
  • Travel between various mine/job sites, to and from MSHA, and state agencies when necessary.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering or a related Engineering field, or equivalent experience is required.
  • Requires 2 - 5 years of related experience in mine operations and mine ventilation.
  • Must be able to work overtime, weekends and holidays as schedule requires
  • Must be able to work safely and effectively as part of a team
  • Must possess effective verbal communication skills and all Microsoft office software proficiency.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pennsylvania Assistant Mine Foreman Certification and section / longwall supervisor experience preferred.
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification for future PE licensure preferred.
  • Specialty certification or experience
