Description:

Responsibilities
  • Develop a familiarity with Coherent's portfolio of thermal materials as well as thermal management techniques, test equipment, and measurement methods
  • Conduct thermal testing of liquid cold plates following established procedures
  • Analyze thermal test results, compare measured data to modeling predictions, and identify reasons for deviation between simulation and experiment
  • Summarize data and present findings to engineering team and management

Requirements
  • Physics, mechanical engineering, materials science majors will be most suited for this role
  • Experience working in a laboratory environment and following safety requirements
  • Strong analytical skills and comfort with data processing (Excel, Matlab, Python, R, or similar)
  • Prior experience related to thermal management, heat transfer, and/or fluid dynamics a plus
  • Experience with G-Code a plus
  • Citizen or permanent resident

The intern will gain hands-on experience performing thermal testing of liquid cold plates, analyzing and interpreting test data, comparing experimental results with simulations, and developing and documentation of test procedures. The intern will gain problem solving experience and insight into the technical challenges faced by the AI datacenter industry. This position will collaborate heavily with a multidisciplinary team comprised of engineers and production technicians.
